2025 NBA Draft: Early entry decisions

A few interesting decisions today.

Another member of the Fighting Illini is OAD: Will Riley, who is projected as a first rounder despite coming off the bench for most of the year.

A name I wasn't very familiar with, but apparently NBA scouts are, is South Carolina's Collin Murray-Boyles, a projected first rounder who is on his way to the draft.

Meanwhile, Purdue's Braden Smith officially announced he's returning to the Boilermakers for his senior year. Smith would've been a two-way contract kind of guy, so that isn't all that surprising. But given he's potentially an early front runner for the Wooden Award, there was speculation (who knows whether it was based in reality or not) that he might be interested in going on the open market for an NIL payday. Instead, his return probably cements Purdue as a pre-season Top 5 team based on their returning core alone—one that had a ceiling of nearly beating Houston in the Sweet 16, but a floor as a middle-of-the-pack B1G team during the regular season.

Florida's Alex Condon, projected as a late first rounder, is entering his name into the draft but seems to be legitimately 50/50 on whether or not to stay in:
Condon has until May 28 to decide whether to withdraw his name from the draft. Should he remove his name at the deadline, he says he will return to Florida next season.

"There's no way I could go to any other school," Condon said. "If I have confirmation from NBA teams that I'm in the 15-30 range, if something is guaranteed, I will consider keeping my name in. I have a great situation at Florida. It would have to be something pretty special, my family would have to agree that we can't turn that down."

Michigan is operating under the strong assumption he’s going pro… to the point I find it a bit odd he hasn’t declared yet.

With Yaxel in the fold to nominally replace Wolf but ā€œtesting the watersā€, part of me wonders whether there’s the tiniest chance Wolf might return if his NBA stock isn’t where he wants it to be and Yaxel decides to go pro… but I’d put that as <5% likely.
It’s official: Wolf is going pro, notably NOT maintaining his college eligibility.

Whether Michigan is the preseason Top 5 team they’re projected as in many Way Too Early rankings now depends heavily on whether Yaxel Lendeborg ends up in Ann Arbor or the NBA.

How does one forgo their college eligibility these days? It used to be by hiring an agent but that's no longer against the rules.
