2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Props to Chris Collins... highest rated recruit in Northwestern history!!

That's great news for Collins!

That statement by Tipton about Singleton seems wrong to me. Vic Law, high school class of 2014 (same year as Jahlil Okafor, Tyus Jones, Justise Winslow, and Grayson Allen) was a consensus Top 100 recruit. Singleton is rated lower than Law was by ESPN and 247. Perhaps Tipton thinks that the "modern recruiting era" only includes the time since he personally was out of high school? He's a young guy and has been successful, but 2014 wasn't all that long ago.

I thought about Law, too. Unless I'm missing something, though, at least 247 has Singleton ranked higher. Ranking aside, 247 also has Singleton as Northwestern's highest rated recruit ever (by that metric, Law is now 4th, behind Singleton, Pete Nance, and someone named Casey Simmons, who is apparently now playing at Yale).

Mark Watson (@BlueDevilNation) tweeted that with the siuation in Florida it would make sense if a decision wasn't announced when originally anticipated. It is very possible, if not likely, he is making this statement with knowledge of a delay.

They're from Miami, which is not going to be in the path of the storm. They'll get a little rain and some wind, but nothing they're not used to really. Shouldn't mess with an announcement.

They want to make sure Gator fans are able to watch the big news.

It will. The Miami-Dade/Broward area is already experiencing tornadoes spawning from the outer bands of the storm. With every wobble south, they get more in line with some of the hurricane force winds and torrential rains the storm is expected to bring. They're probably hunkered down in a safe spot and no way would they want to announce something when a lot of the state will be beginning its cleanup.

This is similar to last year, when Cooper Flagg's announcement was postponed because of the Lewiston, Maine shootings the night before. These kids get it and they don't want to be seen as insensitive in the face of tragedy. It will be understandable if they take a few more days to let the storm pass.

Also, the entirety of Florida south of Daytona is under flood watch with the rains from the hurricane, so even if the wind isn’t much to be worried about, the water is.

The tornado warning is for Western Broward and Collier County - over the Everglades area. I haven't seen any warning for Miami-Dade.

Yeah, I mentioned Broward. Dade is getting stronger squalls moving through than they expected (of course, I'm in touch with a ton of law school friends down there and in Tampa/Orlando). In any case, this hurricane, like many that hit Florida, is a statewide event, not just localized to the path of the eye. The announcement will come second, it appears, and that's completely understandable.

The delay makes sense to me out of respect for what is going on. Also, Zagoria's "among many other things" is very interesting.
