2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

I doubt it.

I think there is a very decent chance that one of Proctor or Foster comes back and will play 33+ minutes per game at PG. Darren Harris is going to push for a lot of those minutes at the 2.

I think Duke has a great chance to land Acaden Lewis who will certainly battle for those minutes. When you look at the way Acaden has shot up the rankings and the schools recruiting him, you can probably project him to be better than a typical top 40 recruit.

And then there is the portal…

Also, Cayden — a relatively poor outside shooter — does not profile like other guards Scheyer has recruited. I’m not saying Duke would not find a major role for him or anything like that but I could see him looking at what Duke has and does and somewhat wondering how he fits in… at least initially.

O I think it is great for Duke recruiting that the Boozers are announcing on October 10,iot will open up spots for recruits, considering Duke. I Have a feeling the Boozers are going to Miami . They were just so careful not to focus on Duke that it leaves me feeling very uncertain.
The Boozer twins would not even be dragging Miami along if they were not going to commit there next week!i I just have a nagging feeling that they want to separate themselves from their father regarding name recognition! Cayden will definitely play at MiamiThe fact, I just made this comment about Cayden the number18 ranked recruit in the country magnifiers how overshadowed he’s been by his brother father and Duke . The twins will be Miami basketball in the future If they are successful next year they would become much more than the sons of Carlos Boozer!
Their comments regarding Duke are scripted! They are being respectful to their father’s school but nothing more! Carlos was at Duke for four years over 20 years ago ! The twins spent their entire life in Miami with their father! Miami is unique and very different from anywhere else in the country! Their hearts seem to be somewhere else and that place may be where they call home !I don’t feel like Duke will be there choice next week !
They will choose to go to Miami and choose to stay st I hope I am wrong. Miami’s biggest advantage is that it is located in Miami!
Please excuse any errors and my grammar in this post, because I have a broken right hand and had to dictate this!!!😌😌❤️

Joe Tipton reports that Acaden Lewis will be in attendance for Friday's Countdown to Craziness as part of his official visit to Duke...

It was previously reported that Nate Ament (unofficial visit) and Shelton Henderson (official visit) will also be in Durham on Friday.

No surprises last night: Nate Ament, Shelton Henderson, and Acaden Lewis attended Countdown to Craziness. They briefly appear in this SLAM recap (start around the 40-second mark), but someone isolated that single clip in the short video below:

I hear the possible concerns about Cayden’s role at Duke. However, I wonder if any projected multi-year player would have concerns about committing to play for a 76 year old coach. Maybe not, but it’s a possible factor here.

I know it’s their home team, but I have a hard time visualizing any 18 year old preferring to play for a 76 year old coach over a young, energetic coach in his 30s who appears to have a great rapport with his players. And just last year, Miami had a disastrous year and Larranaga lost the team. And that doesn’t even take into account Duke’s other positives (NBA connections, etc).

But I admit my glasses are permanently colored Duke blue. And I know Miami isn’t that far removed from a final four run. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I bet this recruitment of the Boozers would make an amazing documentary. Mom wanting them to play close to home. The flashy big money city of Miami putting together a record NIL package they can't refuse. Dad maybe working quietly behind the scenes to sway them to Duke. The twins agreeing, then disagreeing. A phone call with Laranaga. Then a phone call with Scheyer. The agent thinking he has a deal then realizing he's nowhere near a deal...

All the above is pure fiction. Or is it? 🤓

Any possibility the Twins play for different teams? Unlikely but just a possibility.
I've heard an analyst or two say "no chance". But I've got to think it's possible.

You wouldn't know for sure until it's the 11th hour and realize your hearts are in two different places. They will be separated in a year anyway...

Never mind... I believe Duke is currently recruiting guards with the expectation that it is more likely than not that both Proctor and Foster will not be back next season.

Not saying it is a sure thing but I believe Duke is operating under that assumption.

As we should be given the way the new world works… and if both guys are gone in all likelihood that means this season has gone very well for us!

One way or another, this week could set the path for the recruiting class. The Boozer twin's decision/announcement will determine the direction the staff takes with recruitment. It's been a slow-developing class. I'm excited to see some movement.

Agree, time to focus on those HS players that want to play for Duke.

And now a pre-emptive public service announcement.

Ben Ahmed, a 4-star center, is deciding between Cincinnati, Miami, and Xavier tomorrow, and will livestream his announcement on 247 Sports.

Why is this important to the thread? Because there's at least one crystal ball prediction that he'll choose Miami, according to the Canes Insight message board, which means there's a fairly good chance that Trilly Donovan will post a Miami-oriented GIF Thursday morning. That has the potential to cause a great deal of confusion, as the Boozer twins are ALSO announcing Thursday, and they are likely deciding between Duke and Miami.

Donovan's GIFs hint at a commitment for a player announcing later that day, but they offer no context at all. For example, today he posted the following:

I saw this on my phone, so I didn't notice the West Virginia sweatshirt on the cameraman. Grizzly Adams... Memphis Grizzlies... Vancouver... Montana? I got nothing. I only pieced it together when I saw this Adam Finkelstein post:

Okay, so Trilly Donovan is predicting (or already knows) that Kelvin Odih is picking West Virginia over Louisville and Rutgers.

MY prediction is that Trilly Donovan is not bothered by letting Duke fans squirm, and will almost certainly post a Miami GIF first tomorrow, if that's where Ben Ahmed is committing. Ideally, he'll put up 3 GIFs tomorrow, and 2 of them are Duke-related. But he's under no obligation to be clear, so unless he posts 3 Miami GIFs, do yourselves a favor and try not to draw too many conclusions.
