2024 U.S. Presidential election

Original Black’s is still the place. I make any excuse I can find to run down to Lockhart.

Franklin has become a tourist destination.

Stiles Switch can hang with the more famous competition.
Sure, the barbecue in Lockhart is great. And it’s kind of fun driving out there — though I much prefer the drive to the Salt Lick. But both Terry Black’s and Franklin served us up some damn fine BBQ.

However, I must say that our best restaurant experience overall was at the sensational Fonda San Miguel.

To repeat. He cares about no one but himself. His life is transactional for the betterment of himself. This is the direct opposite of the way I live my life, the way I am teaching my children to live their lives, and hopefully how everyone in this community lives their lives. That should be your baseline litmus test before letting Murdoch tell you how to nitpick Harris on anything, be it actual policy or some made up offense like whether Walz was head or assistant coach.
Folks, ordinarily I would just delete the post, issue an infraction, and move on... but I want all of you to understand something.

Personal opinions like the above are simply not allowed in this thread. Period. End off story. I get that we let a fair bit of Trump criticism go, and it is certainly hard to see where one post crosses the line and another does not, but something like "he cares about no one but himself" is a bridge too far.

If you ever are unsure, feel free to PM me or OPK for guidance... better still, if you think what you are about to post is a personal attack on Trump (and Trump supporters) just don't post it.

Thanks.

Apologies.

It looks like Trump is losing some of his Teflon, yes, I know it's Ann Coulter. Allow me to quote so y'all that are so inclined don't have to clicky clicky. It feels to me like the knives are being sharpened. Painting your nominee as an undisciplined a** who can't control their mouth is not exactly the way to build excitement 70 days from the election.

“ATTN DONALD TRUMP: The Harris campaign is demanding a rule change of NOT muting mics at the debates. Why? They’re betting you won’t STFU and will lose the debate - as you did with Biden. 1. DON’T AGREE TO THE RULE CHANGE. 2. Learn to STFU,” Coulter quipped to her 2.1 million followers Monday.

going to Charleston in a few weeks, braced for the horrors of mustard sauce.
Another thing to blame on the French. It should be nuked from orbit. Generally it should be too gauche for the low county folks anyway. It's more for the peons in the mid-state.

Hasn't she been one of those people that have been very critical of Trump but say they will vote for him anyway?

Man, I miss Fonda San Miguel. Our family moved to Colorado shortly after the birth of our first child some twenty years ago, and while we have been able to find passable replacements for the BBQ and Tex Mex (we now have Chuy's and Torchy's Tacos outposts in Denver), Fonda San Miguel is inimitable. So glad to hear they are still going strong.

True, but does her comments reduce enthusiasm or increase enthusiasm for Trump? Turnout will matter as everyone on this thread has been saying. I would argue that every popular conservative commentator that takes pot shots at Trump is less enthusiasm for Trump and ultimately fewer votes on election day.

On the flip side, how many democratic commentators are taking pot shots at VP Harris?

This election isn't (maybe, probably) going to be won with any more earth shaking events (like the Democratic candidate dropping out) and is going to be won one ad, one opinion piece and one vote at a time.

Torchy’s is OK, but I still maintain that OC is the center of the taco universe. Wahoo’s and Taco Mesa—I rest my case.

Not the French—the Midlands Germans gifted us their mustard. My opinion is that good pork BBQ in any sauce beats bad BBQ in any other sauce. Bringing it back to the swine race, I predict SC Q will be the RFK, Jr in any foreseeable sauce war.

There is the Virginia solution. If the Virginia senate and house can not decide on a balanced budget….ALL departments get the same percent budget cut to bring the budget in balance.

On a federal level that may not work because some folks believe the federal government must provide some services regardless of the cost (defense Medicare social security FEMA etc). I’ll stop there because this becomes a policy discussion not a horse race.

I will however argue that fiscal responsibility is the role of congress and the president can only suggest what he/she want to see.
Another idea is for the voters to pass a proposition that says until the legislature passes a balanced budget they don’t get paid.
