2024 U.S. Presidential election

I've seen a couple of these clips now of these two just shooting the s*** on different things and I think it really highlights the brilliance of the Walz pick.

I think most everyone in the country, blue or red, had some teacher or coach that they remember fondly who was like Tim Walz.

He doesn't read liberal. He doesn't read politician. He just reads likable, ordinary dude. I think they are really smart to put him in these casual situations and clips. Let him wear his tshirts and hunting jackets too.
I heard it from several different outlets so I don’t think this will be rumor. Shapiro was the lead candidate until the final meeting between him and Harris. It seems he wanted a more pronounced role in any future administration. Walz, on the other hand, basically said his willing to do whatever is asked to help her get elected even if it’s to run through a wall. That’s how he ended up being picked.

Yes. And he said he had no ambition to be president and Shapiro clearly does. Which means get ready for Walz 2032.

By any reasonably objective standard, he stepped in it bigly on Thursday. If only we could believe that voter behavior were guided by reasonably objective standards …
I can’t locate it right now, but the most recent polling of currently serving that I saw had it 50/50 when Biden was still in the race. That number was significantly in Trump’s favor 8 years ago. Not fully indicative of the veteran vote, but a sign.

I don’t think so! The military is solidly MAGA. But provide a source to prove me wrong.

Gonna ask that we put the intellect and cognitive decline stuff aside for the moment. If there is new evidence/statements that seems to contribute something to that conversation then folks can bring it up again, but we don't need to continue rehashing the same back and forth for now.

I kinda doubt it. I think most veterans are MAGA types.Okay, you must not know very many.

I made my anecdotal assertion first. Please provide a source to prove you are right. ;)

And while not as good as yard signs(my HOA doesn't allow any except for children's graduation signs), my anecdotal evidence is derived from: being a veteran and the son of two veterans, working with fellow veterans daily, and talking to currently serving members of the armed forces as part of my job where I never bring up politics.

But more importantly, I can Google this from 2020 on currently serving voting patterns:

As I noted, I saw veteran polling numbers from a biased veteran's organization* in my social media feed(I follow pets and vets for the most part), I am not seeing it right now so will wait until I see updated numbers from other sources.

*It was either VoteVets, Veterans for Responsible Leadership or a former member of the Lincoln Project.

LOL, Sky! I figured you might take umbrage with my statement. But I stand by my original assertion - that 51 years is not close to a "century".
Just like I stand by my statement that I was not surprised at all the Kamala failed the CA bar exam.
If you're going to stickle, why not do so accurately? He did NOT say it was "close to a century," he said "most of a century," which just happens to be true, new math notwithstanding.

Good luck Jason. It appears we get new evidence/statements almost every day. :D :(

Weird flex, bro. I never said it was close to a century. If you're gonna not pick, make it accurate.

This board picks more nits than most, but I'd make sure to keep receipts if you are going to start being pedantic - being pedantic and incorrect makes it open season.

Or you could actually address the content of my remark rather than sending us off on tangents about how accurate my throwaway comment was or wasn't (it was).

In case you have forgotten what my point was - wanting to return to the policies of Roe v Wade does not make the Democrats "extreme liberals."

Roe v Wade was law for 18,050 days.

You’ve convinced me that I might be wrong, and you certainly have more experience and knowledge than me! Thank you for educating me.

I have to think Trump's position on Ukraine and Russia hurt him bigly with the military, veterans and defense contractors.

Not with the bulk of veterans +55. We had a massive group of Gulf veterans as customers for over a decade. Great group of people. All in the bag for Trump in 2016 and 2020. In 2020, I tried to explain that his budget was cutting VA benefits, Medicaid and Medicare which all of them relied on because they've been through some stuff. It didn't matter. Maybe he will lose some younger ones and activity military but still not is huge numbers. Earlier in the week he had to bend the knee to Miriam Adelson because he insulted her over the phone in private. He did it that the expense of veterans and it won't matter to most of them.

Defense contractors are going to go for either party. They might be the most agnostic industry out there. I don't know when we will cut defense spending just that it won't be in my lifetime. They might have a slight preference for Trump because he will make it easier to sell to Saudi Arabia and Israel but then it's harder to sell to Taiwan.
