ICYMI because it was past your east coast bedtime, the Dads did the most ridiculous thing to clinch a playoff berth.

With the tying runs on base and Ohtani in the on-deck circle, they turned a game-ending triple play.
 
and yet another comeback win by the Detroit City Baseball Tigers...they needed their last position player left on the bench to produce the game winning sacrifice fly...
 
I don’t mean to take anything away from them, but I wonder if the Royals and Tigers would have made the playoffs if the White Sox were an average team rather than the worst in history.

Either way, I wish both of them luck in the first round.
 
My only disappointment (as a Yankees fan) is that the Twins didn’t make the playoffs. I love playing them.

Since the games are almost meaningless, I got a great deal and am going to Yankees-Pirates today. Skenes vs Gil.
 
Couldn’t have gone any better for the Braves last night. Fried tosses a gem in possibly his last home game as a Brave ( I hope not). Mets and Dbacks lose. 3-way tie for the last two WC spots. Braves hold the tiebreaker advantage.

Enjoy - hope the weather holds - got up super early to ref my son’s rec soccer game only to have it cancelled. We are thinking of going to the Yanks tomorrow but today is the better pitchers.

I know Skenes is a big kid but I’m kind of surprised they aren’t shutting him down.

Game time 1:59. He only pitched 8.2 so technically not a Maddux but very very close.
 
Not a good game for the Yanks and rained the whole time. Got to see Skenes though and he looks like the real deal.

Correction: Mets and Braves are tied, Snakes are one percentage point behind. If the season ended right now, Braves would go to San Diego, Mets would stay in Milwaukee, Snakes would go home. If Snakes lose their last two, then the Monday games would probably not be played, because the only potential effect would be on seeding, and the Mets would gladly take the six seed.

If it comes down to just seeding I’m sure the Mets and Braves would both rather toss a coin than play 2. And imagine the lineups if they did play!
 
Arraez sitting out to try to protect his lead for the batting title vs Shohei’s bid for the triple crown. He’s no Ted Williams.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that if all three teams are tied on Sunday night, they would play two on Monday. A split and Arizona stays home, but a sweep and they would be in a long with the Monday (double) winner.

Poor form tommy. You obviously are not aware of Arraez’ injuries he has been managing. I wish you could call out Luis like this to his face, but I’m sure you wouldn’t if you were talking to him.
