Any reason to be concerned by the fact that Ngongba is not seen at all in the recently released practice clips?
Another fan site stated that Ngongba was wearing a walking boot recently. Can anyone confirm that and offer any additional info?

Surprised no one has linked to the Jon Rothstein observations from today's practice.

Lots of good stuff there including a pretty hot take of the starting 5.

Kon starting at the 2 instead of Caleb Foster? I don't think so Jon. I may be Kon's biggest fan, but I don't think he needs to be guarding ACC 2s. Jon was looking for a way to get Mason Gillis in the starting lineup.

Jon is also raving about Darren Harris. Big shot after big shot. Just like Tyrese Proctor on the podcast.

I've posted before I was amazed watching Darren Harris in the tourney of champions. An elite shooter but a lot more than just a shooter. But who sits if he cracks the rotation? Sion?

So much talent....

Looks like Harris went off today

I think it's going to be hard to keep Harris off the floor especially if he can shoot like that. I think the Ngbongo will see the least amount of minutes do to injury ect. I think Evans time takes a hit as well.

The only reason I could see Foster not starting is to have a PG coming off the bench. However, I find it hard to believe our only two returning recruited players don’t start- at least to begin the season…

After watching the Brotherhood Podcast Squad Pod and the Crazie Cast, I came away convinced of 3 things:
  1. Man-man will start. He may limit himself with fouling, but he will play for as many minutes as he can handle.
  2. A player's ability to defend is going to play a large role in PT.
  3. Cooper may be the only player to average 30 minutes per game.
I am also in the process of (against all common sense) talking myself into Duke playing fast and having a rotation in the 9-10 range.

I also think Proctor will average over 30 minutes per game; in fact he may even lead the team in mpg. I think Jon really values having his leadership on the floor - remember last year, after Foster was hurt, there were quite a few games when Proctor played all 40.

The practice footage that they released on social media yesterday (I saw it on IG) showed the 5 Rothstein talked about playing together. I, too, was surprised that Foster was running with that group. He was with Harris, Brown, Evans, Sion and Brown. I did not see big Pat in any of the footage. Perhaps, as mentioned upthread, we'll see some Coop at the 5 line-ups? It will be interesting to see how much shooting dictates PT, that's the big question for Sion...does he shoot like he did in his last year at Tulane or his prior 3 years?

If the team is as deep as I hope, I don't think he will, and this is not a knock on Tyrese. I think Tyrese will be one of the top players on Duke this season, but there are a lot of mouths to feed on the perimeter. I do think that at least one of Tyrese and Caleb will be on the floor for every minute of non-garbage time.

As for last season, I think Tyrese playing 40 minutes a game had more to do with the lack of depth on last season's team (though I agree that Jon does seem to value Tyrese's leadership).

Separating Tyrese and Proctor has more to do with giving both teams a PG than who is a starter or backup. Pat may be in a boot. A couple of sleuths on another board saw him in a boot in the background of one of the videos Duke put out (sign the childhood picture one, I think).
