travle.earth. It's not a New York Times thing. They give you a starting country and an ending country, and the object is to find a land route between them using the fewest number of countries. You get a green box with a check if you pick the correct next country in the shortest route, an empty green box if the guess is on the route but not in order, an orange box if the guess borders the route or a country you've already picked, and a red box for "WFT was that?".
It's a great way to learn geography, if you're patient with yourself when you first start.
