Yesterday, big media news broke that Adrian "Woj" Wojnarowski, the legendary NBA newsbreaking insder, will retire from reporting to become the basketball GM at his alma mater, St. Bonaventure.

I thought I'd use this opportunity to talk about how much I can't stand Woj because of the way he has slandered Coach K over the years.

It wasn't always this way, there used to be a sense of Polish kinship coming from Woj to K.

Couldn't agree more. I always felt he was pretty light on actual basketball knowledge anyway. Give me Zach Lowe and Legler and probably a hundred other people over him any day. He real-time predicted that one draft. Kind of a cool party trick but we found out 1 minute later anyway, so what was the point?

Also, how dumb does that story look 10 years later, especially after the great Olympic tournament we just had. Good riddance.

I think his one clear strength as a journalist was his connections with NBA front offices and agents, as he built a pretty solid track record over the years on being the first to break stories on trades and free agent signings. And having quality scuttle around such even if his predictions were uneven.

in all fairness I can just imagine some editor telling Woj it would be good to do a hit piece with a headline to stir up controversy — but ultimately that didn’t age well. I mean, to look back now at the resurrection and success Coach K brought to USA basketball and read a ridiculous title like that — he’s the one who has to sit with his poor analysis of the state of USA basketball at the time
