March Madness livestreams their postgame press conferences, so when this one starts, you'll see it here.

Edit: The Duke presser has started, with Coach Lawson, Oluchi Okananwa, and Toby Fournier.

Did I hear right that this was only the second time in the history of the women’s NCAA tournament that a team was held to 25 points? I thought that’s what they said.
Yup. And they said it with like 3:30 to go. Lehigh never got that 26th, despite the attempt to jinx it. ;)

Her hoops stats thinks Oregon shouldn’t be much of a challenge, ranking them 50th in the country. They don’t shoot very well and really the only thing they do well is hold onto the ball and turn others over. They may have some big size but duke should handle them with ease at this rate.

I know Lehigh isn’t an offensive powerhouse, but Duke’s D is formidable.
it's why they're where they are and have had the turnaround they did. #1 defense in the country the past month, as opposed to ~10th best before that.

Duke gets the 1st game of the day at noon.

Ya just gotta wonder who's writing these summaries for espn (yes, I know the woman's name is added to the blurb):

...The Blue Devils have an experienced squad, returning three starters this season and adding talented freshman forwards Toby Fournier and Jenessa Cotton and center Arianna Roberson....

ai. :(

This game was perfect for getting the rust off and our offense clicking again. I like that the "2nd" squad got so much run. I think it'll do wonders for players like Koabel, who pretty much hasn't seen her shot go in all year.

That run of threes in the second half was incredible to behold!

Now for a matchup between my two alma maters!

Here are the numbers from last night's beatdown of the Lehigh University Mountain Hawks (cool mascot name) at Cameron Indoor:

OFFENSE
Possessions: 73.7 (faster than both teams normally play; 46 combined TOs will do that)
oRtg: 1.167 (adj. 1.191, equivalent of about 5th)
eFG%: 54.5% (excellent, well above both our norm and what they usually allow*)
3pt%: 37.9% (good, above the norm for both teams)
2pt%: 52.6% (good, above both averages)
%three: 43.3% (extremely high, our highest rate all season)
FT rate: 43.3% (very high, our highest since Liberty, our second game)
OR%: 50.0% (outstanding)
TO%: 21.7% (almost our norm, but quite bad against this level opponent)
a/to: 1.063 (OK, in the end; bad for most of the game)
%assisted: 54.8% (bad, well below our normal)
fast break pts: 14 (16.3%) (very good)

DEFENSE
dRtg: 0.339 (excellent; 0.291 adj., #1 by a whole lot - more than 40 points in 100 possessions better than #1)
deFG%: 21.7% (wow, best of the season)
3pt%: 13.3% (excellent)
2pt%: 22.6% (wow, best of the season)
%threes: 32.6% (more than we usually allow, but they normally take almost 45% of their shots from three)
FT rate: 13.0% (excellent, and they normally get to the line ~30%)
DR%: 78.4% (excellent)
TO%: 40.7% (excellent, almost double Lehigh's normal rate)
a/to: 0.100 (excellent)
%assisted: 33.3% (that's 3 assists on 9 made buckets; talk about small sample size)
stl%: 17.6% (good, but not outstanding)
blk%: 12.9% (again, good, but not outstanding)
fast break pts: 0 (0.0%) (can't do better than that)

*Take this entire game with a huge grain of salt. Not only does Lehigh never face a top-ranked team, Lehigh seldom faces even a Power 4 team. They were 1-1 against the P4 with two early games against Big Ten teams, but the team they beat was Northwestern, which was 2-16 in Big Ten games. In other words, as great as this game was on paper, I'm not sure we can glean much from it except that it was a good way for us to get re-accustomed to competitive play, given that it's our first actual game in nearly two weeks.

So I'm not going to say much except to say that our offense took a while to come out of the locker room, even as our defense showed up from the opening tap. It took us time to find the range at game speed, and to get used to simple things like, you know, passing the ball against a team that's legitimately trying to take it away. Specific concerns include a negative A:TO by our primary point guard (even our backup only had an even ratio), and our leading scorer still not knowing what to do against an energetic double-team.

There's not much room for improvement defensively (we allowed single-digit scoring in every quarter), but we've still got plenty of work to do on the offensive side of the ball.

Wow. Oregon gets a 9AM ET start. I was hoping I could do both on Sunday, but there's no way I can make it happen. You can also thank me for not going to the Duke-Lehigh game last night.
Oregon isn't going home between last night and tomorrow. They get a noon start, just like we do. They don't get to sleep in their own beds and it is our home court, but time zones shouldn't be a problem for college students on their fourth day back east. Also, there were a lot of loud Oregon fans in attendance last night against Vandy. Duke fans need to show up and bring it.

If we can end Deja Kelly’s career tomorrow, there’s also the possibility of ending Caleb Love’s career on Thursday. And if it wasn’t for Bubba Cunningham and co., we would have ended RJ Davis’s career. A fitting end for that supposed relationship squabble that screwed the Heels in 2023.
