This Week in the ACC - 1/20-1/26

Thanks for the explanation. Coaches differ on whether to play someone with 2 fouls in the first half. Still, I think most would say that if the choice is to put in the "4th Center" it might make sense to keep someone with 2 fouls in.

Jim Boeheim said (when announcing the Duke game) that he doesn't like subbing players out when they have 2 fouls because that causes them to not play defense if they know they will be subbed out.

I don’t like it. It means taking your best players off the court because of what MIGHT happen if they get more fouls. Just thinking mathematically, you are reducing the number of minutes that your best players are on the floor.

It’s very different there. Most of the posters seem to hate Carolina. It’s like the worst 10% of our game chat posters are the normal posters there.
So true. It's like there are 5 guys posting all day long defending Hubert while 500 call for his job. 🤣 Makes me wonder if any of those 5 work for UNC Athletics.

FSU's loss to Cal probably finishes off any slim chance they had of making the NCAAT.

Can anyone rise of Pitt, SMU, and Wake? Hopefully not Wake on Saturday.

And can UNC continue to sink? Please?

Miami loses at Stanford, 88-51. That's not a typo. 88-51.

Miami's T-rank game scores for the last two games: 2 and 3 (100 point scale).
On the ESPN the game info includes a highlight of Jaylen Blakes hitting a "circus shot" after driving the rim and getting conked on the head (no call). JB stuffed the stat sheet getting 12-2-4-3-1 p-r-a-s-b. His game has grown so much since he was at Duke, as has his usage. He is taking about 6 FTs per game (80%) while shooting 46 and 32 FG and 3FG%, respectively. He's averaging 14.7-3.2-5.2 p-r-a per game. He's become a very serviceable (dare i say, good?) PG for a pretty good team (13-6, 5-3 ACC).

Blakes was not highly recruited coming out of a top prep school. I remember his HS coach saying wonderful things about him. I think it just took 3-4 years for his game to develop. A very smart man once said that "everyone runs his own race". Couldn't be happier for him--especially that he went to a top academic school.

I still say the mask he had to wear after the broken nose had a lot to with his shooting going south.

GoDuke!

A Duke undergrad degree and a Stanford graduate degree is an excellent ticket for his future.

Obviously a very bright young man with multiple instances of academic excellence. Throw in the athletic dedication, persistence and success and you have a formula for Mr. Blakes to have wonderful prospects for the future. I couldn't be happier for the young man.

Hmm. I see the following defending coach Davis:
HubertD
UbertDH
BertDHu
EreDHub
and
Redhube

All legitimate users I'm sure, though I do detect a pattern. ;)
Cheats will keep Hubert as an effort to dumb down the bball program. This helps with admission to the B1G as this conference hasn’t won the title in past 24 years.

Hiring Big Bill for football will help their rallying cry “We want to be like Rutgers”.

They're probably the worst team of all the power conference teams. Certainly the worst defense, and almost for sure the worst team overall. And that's saying something.

340 in defense! I've never seen a power conference team even close to that low. That just means they aren't even trying.
