MBB future scheduling (2026 and on)

I’d offer as well since I live across the river and up about 15 miles from West Point, but I don’t have room for the whole team.
I live in a Manhattan apartment about 3 miles from MSG - I'm guessing you have much more room than me. I was only offering for 1-2 players.

Interesting. So they play at West Point Nov. 11 then MSG on Nov. 18. If they need a place to crash in between my couch is available in exchange for basketball lessons for my kids. I wonder if they will do any more NYC-area games or this covers it.

Well, I live about half way between West Point and Manhatten, so maybe we can spread them out amongst us.

Under the current TV contract, I think both are Fox instead of ABC/ESPN. It's all going to depend on where the TV contracts stand.
These are non-conference neutral site games and thus not subject to any conference's TV contract.

We know 3/5 games oustide Cameron: Army, MSU, AR. Duke might get a home game in the ACC-SEC, but this doesn't look good if you want a MTE next year. Going to 18 games (which makes sense with a 18 team conference) would allow an extra road/neutral game.

Also playing Kansas at MSG in the Champions Classic

We also have the Champions Classic against Kansas at MSG on Nov. 18. https://goduke.com/news/2024/10/22/...champions-classic-returns-to-new-york-in-2025.

But, setting a game on Thanksgiving certainly does suggest that we didn't work out at deal (as had been rumored) to participate in an expanded Players Era event in Las Vegas that week

I typed MSU instead of KS. Duke promised to visit Breslin in return for the COVID home game, but it hasn't happened yet. The Las Vegas event is in 2027.

Considering the two big non-con games were know of are at neutral sites, I wonder if that favor might be returned next year. (Yes, we play Army on the road, but that's obviously its own thing.) While it's impossible to project in the portal era, MSU could be very good next year, as their seniors are good but not central to their recent success, and the only NBA prospect is Jace Richardson (and he looks like a toss-up, late first round type of guy). If Old Man Izzo can keep his core together, it wouldn't surprise me if they're a pre-season Top 10, or even Top 5, team next year if their hot play continues into March.

That said, I'm on the record saying that both Michigan and Michigan State are prime upset candidates this season (BTW, bookmark this message if you think I never have bad things to say about Michigan, hahaha). Michigan State quite simply has no consistent three point shooters, and their bigs are very foul prone. Those are two things that historically can doom a team against a hot opponent. Michigan also has completely bottomed out, going from one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the country to one of the absolute worst over the past month plus, and really only has one high-major level guard. Something tells me this isn't the year the B1G shakes its reputation of flaming out in March.

Duke vs Arkansas on Thanksgiving Night 2025 at the United Center in Chicago. CBS with TV coverage.

This will be Duke's third game against Arkansas in 5 seasons (the 2022 Elite Eight game and the game in Fayetteville in last season's ACC-SEC challenge).

Arkansas is probably/definitely losing Johnell Davis, Jonas Aidoo, Boogie Fland, and Adou Thiero to graduation/the draft. Fool's errand to project next season's roster in March these days, but if Arkansas returns its non-Boogie freshman (Karter Knox and Billy Richmond) and some or all of the upper classmen with eligibility left (Trevon Brazile, DJ Wagner, Zvonimir Ivisic), that's a pretty good core. The Hogs are bringing in the #4 recruiting class (including two of the top guards in the class, Meleek Thomas and Darius Acuff) and are in the mix for top-5 prospect and Duke target Nate Ament. That plus whoever they land in the portal should be a very good roster. Question is whether Cal can make the most of it. It should be a quality game for Duke's SOS if nothing else.

And a Q1 victory.

Just saw this on Duke's IG.

So glad Duke basketball isn't afraid of the NFL like everyone else in sports. This is awesome!
Being on CBS, it will probably follow the CBS football game and be promoted heavily as a result. The downside is we could miss the start or they will delay the start if the FB game runs long.

Interesting, I wonder if we'll run it back with Auburn in the ACC/SEC Challenge. It would be fun to play Alabama.
The top SEC teams (Auburn, Bama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida) are all very senior heavy at the top of their rotations. I hadn't looked at it before and was honestly shocked at how many SEC teams have three or more seniors among their top 5 or 6 scorers (has this been discussed as a reason for the SEC's dominance this season?). Those guys are all gone, and Arkansas and Kentucky are the only SEC schools with incoming recruiting classes in the national top 10.

We are expecting Duke to be at or near the top of the ACC. The challenge pairs teams based on where they're expected to finish in conference. Right now, I don't think there's an obvious candidate for who the top SEC teams (and thus Duke's most likely challenge opponents) will be in 2025-26.

Here's the GoDuke announcement, and a pretty impressive graphic from Duke MBB Facebook.

Tickets for the event will go on sale later this year, but fans are encouraged to log on to DukeArkansasChicago.com and register to receive exclusive event information, including presale access to tickets and other opportunities to enhance the Thanksgiving weekend experience in Chicago.

The 2024 CBS Sports Thanksgiving Classic between Illinois and Arkansas averaged 5.174 million viewers on CBS and is the most-watched college basketball game on any network this season.

We’ve got the Arkansas game and a rumored game at Michigan State (yawn). What do we need now in major nonconference games? ACC-SEC Challenge game, a game at MSG and a major nonconference home game if the ACC-SEC Challenge game isn’t in Cameron? Would Duke play in some major Thanksgiving adjacent tournament or are those a thing of the past. Scheduling a game on Thanksgiving Day suggests the latter. One way or another I’d love to see a game or two with Houston, Tennessee, Auburn and Florida. I’d even be happy to see a Duke-UK home and home.
