If defense travels, then let’s pack up a perimeter defense that stays tight on the guards and makes them start at the logo each time. If the Clemson bigs set screens, I would have our defender hedge and let our guards stay on them. If a Clemson big stays low, stay in front. It will be difficult to pass over the top of our guys. If Schiefflin or Lahkin want to try and beat us with 15 footers, that’s a risk I think we should take since it also means one more guy out of rebound position.

I noticed from the highlights vs GT, that C. Reeves (who did collect 7 boards) played really bad defense on the 2 possessions in which he showed up. He was in the lane, containing dribble penetration, ok that's fine, but then the shooter pulled up for a jumper which CR would not have been able to block necessarily, but he didn't even raise his hands which were below his waist. Would stunting towards the shooter with his hands up affected the shot? Who knows, but making the effort is generally seen as good form.
I wish Reeves the best as a prior Duke player but he doesn't seem to have "it" yet. Hope he helps the Tigers in years to come. Right now he is just a 4th guy in middle to Schiefflin, Wiggins and Lakin - they have quite a lineup of bigs

Watched a bit of that game. Reeves is slow and somewhat immobile against average bids. But his height does provide rebounds.

On defense the gameplan is simple: run them off the 3-point line. This has been a problem in some games this year, but I expect our guys to be sharp. Clemson doesn't have a ton of athletes that worry you off the dribble if you take away their 3s. I expect Tyrese to get the assignment on Chase Hunter, who has been excellent this year.

Offensively, avoid turnovers and hunt matchups. They allow assists on just 42% of made field goals, meaning they want you to go one on one. The good news is I don't know that they have a matchup for Kon or Cooper. If they intend to play their 3 big lineup, Schieffelin has to guard somebody, but I'm not sure who. He's a nice player, but our athleticism will give him problems at both ends. If they go smaller, their guard depth isn't great.

On paper, it's a good matchup for us. Still, it's on the road. They are old and will play physical, and we probably won't get a great whistle. Buckle the chinstrap and get ready for a battle.

I'm looking for Clemson to be VERY physical. Kon and Flagg (in my opinion) will get battered all game. I hope I'm wrong. Make the shots and Duke wins !

Agree this will be a war. Minor movement toward Clemson as several casino lines now at Duke - 6.5

Schiefflin has been playing through back pains
Among other injuries. He suffered an ankle sprain in overtime against GT earlier this week. I believe he came back into the game after the injury. I wonder if the Duke game plan will focus on attacking Schieffelin to draw fouls.

Maybe, but Clemson isn't all that deep. Foul trouble could be a problem for them.

Yes, I expect tough. Young studs vs. seniors and graduates, Part 23. Money line is remembering closeness of games last year or two.

If our first half play was ever important, it is today.
