This is pasted over from the post-game thread.

The recovery time for a dislocated shoulder depends on the severity of the injury, whether there was any ligament or tissue damage, and how well rehab is followed. Here’s a general breakdown:

1. Mild Dislocation (No Major Damage)

⏳ Recovery Time: 2–6 weeks
🔹 If the shoulder is put back in place (reduced) without complications, healing can be relatively quick.
🔹 Rest, immobilization (in a sling), and gentle physical therapy help regain mobility.

2. Moderate Dislocation (Some Ligament/Tissue Damage)

⏳ Recovery Time: 6–12 weeks
🔹 More extensive soft tissue damage requires longer healing and physical therapy.
🔹 Strengthening exercises become crucial to prevent re-injury.

3. Severe Dislocation (Torn Ligaments or Fracture)

⏳ Recovery Time: 3–6 months (or more if surgery is needed)
🔹 If the injury caused a rotator cuff tear, labrum damage, or bone fracture, surgical intervention may be required.
🔹 Post-surgery, physical therapy is critical for regaining strength and stability.

Key Recovery Phases:

Weeks 1–3: Rest, use a sling, control pain/swelling.
Weeks 3–6: Gradual range of motion exercises, avoiding heavy use.
Weeks 6–12: Strength training, increased mobility.
3+ Months: Full return to sports or strenuous activities (if cleared by a doctor).

Risk of Re-injury: Shoulders that have been dislocated once are more prone to future dislocations, so strengthening and rehab are crucial.

This is some AI slop. Would love a real docs opinion

3rd injury Maliq has had this year, but this one is by far the most worrying. I really hope injuries don't ruin the season for this team, it always feels like we get one to a key player late in the year. Hard to see us making a run in March without Maliq. Hoping for the best.

I was in Atlanta last night and happened to sit next to Malik's uncle at PF Chang's. He said Malik was the only Duke fan in the entire family. All the other Culpepper VA family were UNC fans. He started as a point guard but grew 7 inches before 8th grade -- hence his ability to play defense. He enrolled at Blue Ridge Academy to play QB. Sounds like an athlete.
