And the kicker isn't the reason they didn't score to win in regulation. He didn't need a TD. That's a 90% win chance from that distance with an average kicker.
The PAT and the missed FG are a different story, though.

If Pelino had a 90% chance of making that kick, then he would've had a better chance of making a PAT in OT. I know that wouldn't have won us the game but let's be real: we had maybe a 40% chance of winning on a 2-pt conversion. He didn't need a TD. Yes, and I was looking forward to a 2nd OT...sigh.If Pelino had a 90% chance of making that kick, then he would've had a better chance of making a PAT in OT. I know that wouldn't have won us the game but let's be real: we had maybe a 40% chance of winning on a 2-pt conversion.
We would have had the ball first in the 2nd OT and only two point conversions then. Having the ball first puts you at a disadvantage. Manny must have not liked how things were shaping up there and wanted to end it. The odds probably don't make the decision totally clear one way or the other. If Pelino had a 90% chance of making that kick, then he would've had a better chance of making a PAT in OT. Agreed, Pelino was going to miss the kick anyway. I was as sure he would miss both of those attempts as I was Reddick would hit his FTs. Called my family over both times to watch our kicker blow the lead and lose the game. No joke. He’s more like a 20% kicker in high pressure situations.I have no problem with the call to go for 2.
Tough loss, good fight.
Damn.
Next play.
We were at the game. I was asking for it because it was the best option given the previous situations.I have no problem with the call to go for 2.

We were right in front of that play. The linebacker was definitely going to tackle him before the end zone. Murphy was too slow to outrun him. He had to throw.Frustrating loss. We let that game slip through our fingers.
From the stands it appeared Murphy could have run for the 2 PT conversion. I have not seen a replay yet.
I would have kicked the PA to tie it and trust our defense to stop them one more time.If Pelino had a 90% chance of making that kick, then he would've had a better chance of making a PAT in OT. I know that wouldn't have won us the game but let's be real: we had maybe a 40% chance of winning on a 2-pt conversion.
What a stinging defeat. 6 TO’s no points
6 turnovers and zero points. That plus a missed FG and blocked FG. Thats the story
I’ve “liked” opposing opinions about the decision to go for two, because neither is wrong. It was a gutsy move and understandable that Manny seized the opportunity to end the game one way or another. It would have also been my choice to kick the PAT given the overwhelming probability of converting PATs. This loss released a demon spirit that will haunt me as well but To said spirit I say “grab a number and get in line.” It’s going to be a long wait. I still haven’t fully processed the “lateral” game, then there’s the “jump pass” game, the 4th and 16 game…Duke football provides a steady stream of haunting nightmares. Hell it took me almost 30 years to get over the recurring nightmares induced by The Boston Symphony’s performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and The Wolf”. Damn Ruskies.I’ve been a Duke football fan since 1984 when I was a freshman. This loss will haunt me for a long time,
