Ahh yes!

The folks are at work on #22, and here is a look at one of the new Bond girls.

Note to Shammrog: No, it's not the girl you knew from high school.

Cheers,
Lavabe

Eye-candy-wise, it looks like a step down from Eva Green and Caterina Murino. They were the best 1-2 punch I've ever seen in a Bond film. JMO.

Quantum of Solace

After reading the first of several articles about the new Bond movie I thought, why in the heck did they choose that title? It makes no sense! Thank God someone explained that the title is actually from an Ian Fleming story. The Broccoli's do know how to keep him tied to the movies even though they don't follow his books. Which I don't have a problem with. :D

Did you know that Goldeneye was the title of a Fleming estate? I think it was somewhere in the Caribbean.

I need some help with the last Bond movie. The bad guy, the one whose eye bled, was shot in the head his torture session with Bond. But you see him later in the movie, in Venice. He is standing near a dock wearing a pair of glasses in which one glass is dark. I think it was Vesper that saw him. And, IIRC, he survived the final action scenes there too. What am I missing?

Oh, and to sidetrack ever so slightly. Added another cat to the brood this week. Named her Moneypenny. :D As she is a tuxedo cat thought about naming her Domino, but then no one would understand the true sense of the name. They'd think I named her Domino because she looks like a Domino.

Weren't those two different bad guys? Le Chiffre was shot during the torture session while the head of the "Syndicate" was seen in Venice. I believe the head of the "Syndicate" was also present with Le Chiffre in the opening arms deal scene.

That makes sense. But, did the head of the "syndicate" have an eye issue as well? The guy I'm thinking of who stood on the dock wore a pair of glasses with one dark lense which is why I thought it was Le Chiffre (thanks for putting his name in, could not recall it for the life of me).

Guess I'll have to pop the DVD in this weekend. Bummer, have to watch Daniel Craig again. Whoa is me. :p

I watched Casino Royale over the weekend, I have yet to tire of this movie.

I now think the guy on the dock was the filmmaker's way of confusing us. At a quick glance he looked exactly like Le Chiffre, and the dark lens covered the same eye Le Chiffre had problems with. Though as I watched further it was apparent they weren't the same man. And, I never saw the guy earlier in the movie, which lends to my theory that the filmmaker tried to confuse us.

I welcome anyone else's interpretation. Surely I'm not the only person who has been baffled by this.

I'm M now

As this is my 1,000th post, I guess that makes me M. And, since I'm M I figured it would be appropriate to post my 1,000th post in a James Bond thread.

My first Bond movie in a theater was For Your Eyes Only. I was hooked even as a young kid. I love the series and have all the movies but I gotta say that it's really hard to watch any of the Dalton/Brosnan flicks. I was so happy that the writers/producers of Casino Royale abandoned the ridiculous comedic aspect of its contemporary predecessors. Daniel Craig is great. Can't wait for the new release.

My first Bond in the theater was Die Another Day. Don't ask why it took so long.

Like you I have a hard time watching the Dalton flicks, though I like a few of Remington Steele's (PB will always be Remington Steele to me). I have an even harder time watching Roger Moore, but there are times that I'll really get into on of his Bond movies, though never Man with the Golden Gun. That belongs close to the top of the worst Bond movies.

Daniel Craig, well, what can I say? He is awesome and is a great Bond. Hopefully QoS won't change my mind.

My first Bond films were a double feature of Dr. No and From Russia With Love in 1963 and I haven't missed one film or book since! I love Bond and the frivolity of the films.

FRWL is one of my all-time favs. Right up there with You Only Live Twice.

For me, Roger Moore has been the clear #2 behind Connery. I suspect Craig will likely supplant Moore at the #2 spot after a couple films. Still, I enjoy most of RM's movies. For Your Eyes Only, View to a Kill... whoa, I got sensored trying to write the name of the movie starting with "Octo..."
