Blue Devils in the NBA 2023-2024

It's time. The NBA regular season starts Tuesday with a doubleheader airing on TNT. Cam Reddish and the Lakers visit the defending champion Nuggets (7:30pm ET), followed by Grayson Allen and the Suns facing the Warriors (10pm ET).

The purpose of this thread is to follow the 2023-2024 NBA season with an emphasis on the people who attended Duke. I'm hoping that DBR member grad_devil continues to keep track of nightly player stats on that terrific Devils in the NBA page.

There are a lot of Blue Devils in the NBA. I keep a running list of players, coaches, executives, and staff who went to Duke or are affiliated with Duke in some way (like former Duke basketball coaches Mike Brey and Hubie Brown). I wish the list were complete, but media guides aren't always available, and even when they are, not everyone has a bio. If you know any Duke grads who work for an NBA team or for the league in general, or cover the NBA in some capacity, let me know and I'll add them.

First off, not that he needs any more sporks, but Brevity should get ALL THE PRAISE for that amazing list. Wow! Absolute next level stuff.

ATLANTA HAWKS
Scott Wilkinson, Executive VP/Chief Legal Officer

Scott is a friend of mine. We coached T-ball together when our sons were little tykes. He's a great guy and has been with the Hawks for 20+years now.

Great thread brevity and appreciate the list. One nit pick - please stop including Jalen Johnson, he quit on us and doesn't deserve to be included IMO. Every time I read his name I just curse...

Has he ever been back to campus? Maybe I have missed it but I have never seen him in any sort of social media posts regarding on campus stuff.

I am bitter about Jalen Johnson. Very bitter.

But I absolutely don't criticize Brevity for his posts. He does yeoman work and always brings his A game. He has earned the right to include Jalen Johnson, Kris Humphries, or even Sean Livingston for all I care.

Brevity - you are the real MVP!

I kinda have to agree with this. Would prefer not to have him listed. But not a huge complaint. You are doing yeoman's work.

Jalen Johnson was featured in Duke Blue Planet last year as one of the many Dukies in the NBA.

My opinion: I don’t know what was going on mentally with the kid during COVID. My daughter was a college freshman that year and really struggled and returned home part way through the year. Granted, she didn’t have basketball teammates counting on her, but if the program gives Jalen a break then I’m inclined to also.

I am by no means criticizing brevity and I 100% appreciate everything he shares. If that came across as a criticism of brevity I communicated poorly.

brevity deals in facts, not feelings

Same here, fact is JJ quit on our team and doesn't deserve to be included.

What bothers me most about brevity is that he provides extremely useful content but can also be extremely funny. I don’t much like that.
