ACC Football: Week 3

Here's where ACC teams stand in the eyes of AP voters after three(ish) weeks.

Miami #8
Notre Dame*** #17
Louisville #19
Clemson #21

Syracuse #27 (62 votes)
BC #30 (47 votes)
Cal #35 (11 votes)
Cheaters #40 (3 votes)
Pitt #43 (1 votes)

Late 4th quarter wins over a UConn team that got blasted by about 50 points by Maryland are not a good way to win over the voters.
The "voters" likely were watching the UGA/UK game, I guarantee you none of them tuned in to ACCNx to see how two basketball schools faired. All that matters in games like ours is the box score showing a W.

(I'm guessing we don't see any votes until after we beat the cheaters.)

Plus Arch's dad Cooper was a WR. Peyton was statuary and Eli only slightly better, but Arch is above average athlete for a qb.

For whatever reason this story was interesting to me: from what I can tell, Wake and Ole Miss had a home and home. Ole Miss beat Wake 40-6 in W-S this weekend. Wake was supposed to go to Ole Miss next season. From what I can tell, Wake paid Ole Miss to cancel the return game. I'm assuming there was some kind of a contract and Wake made its contractually obligated payment to cancel the return game.

Ole Miss is whining that Wake broke an "unwritten rule" by doing this on fairly short notice since it will be hard for them to schedule a game for next year against a decent team. If Ole Miss didn't want to risk this happening, perhaps they should have had their lawyers write a better contract - seems very obvious to me. But I guess that's not how they do business in the SEC.

Please tell me if I am missing something here. The article makes no mention of what Wake might do to make up the game - I assume they are less concerned about playing a top team and can fill it with a smaller school.

I can't remember the specifics but Duke backed out of an out of conference game some years ago which led to some whining.

The SEC actually has a rule where each of their teams are required to play another power conference team (or Notre Dame) every season. Wake bailing out of this contract (they apparently had to pay a $1 mil cancelation fee) puts Ole Miss in a tough spot. They will either need to find another P4 team to play (I wonder if the old Pac 12 teams would count, Oregon St and Wash St) or they have to get a waiver from the SEC.
