2025 Men's Basketball Recruiting

That is a fair point. As soon as I saw your post I thought of Walker because at one time he was regarded around 7 or 8. I know Drexler was not highly recruited and I doubt Olajuwon was properly evaluated nationally.
Hakeem was basically allowed on UH on a trial basis. Then, he worked out the next summer with Moses Malone and friends in Houston.

How does this affect the Shelton Henderson recruitment, if at all ?
I would think it helps us but these guys could be friends and want to play together. Two talented 6-6 SFs could definitely share the floor. And there's a good chance one of Evans or Knueppel is at Duke next year.

There's apparently a four-star recruit from Charlottesville named Ryan Crotty who is NOT related to UVA alum John Crotty. What are the odds?

He committed to Oklahoma State.

23. Hudson Greer (6-6 SG):

Hudson Greer, who once expressed an interest in Duke but never got an offer, is deciding upon a college today, live on On3’s YouTube channel in about 20 minutes. His finalists are Alabama, Creighton, and Kansas.

Trilly Donovan is predicting Creighton.

Update: Greer commits to Creighton.

Joe Tipton of On3 and Tipton edits is one with Tate Frazier to discuss the 2025 5 stars and, aside from saying he thinks Duke is in the mix for the Boozers (not leading) he doesn't really have us in pole position with anyone else from this class (they don't talk about Henderson)

Hakeem was basically allowed on UH on a trial basis. Then, he worked out the next summer with Moses Malone and friends in Houston.
He was extremely raw as a freshman on a Final Four squad led by Rob Williams with sophomore Drexler, junior Larry Michaux and soph Michael Young also playing key roles. The athleticism even then was eye popping and had earned him regular rotation minutes by year end. The skill refinement that came from the ensuing summer's workout allowed for a big jump as a soph.

I've compiled a list of 2025's top recruits -- RSCI won't have the first composite ranking until October, so I'll use the On3 rankings -- to see how close or far they are to commitment. I'll include whether they have a Duke offer (according to Verbal Commits), and/or any finalists they've announced.

RSCI has now provided their late summer rankings for the 2025 class -- an industry composite of rankings from 247 Sports, ESPN, On3, and Rivals -- so I'll use that here. 14 of their top 50 players have announced their college choices, with 5 of them committing since my last update exactly one month ago.

I believe we have an offer out to Dwayne Aristode.

Maybe. According to Verbal Commits, Dwayne Aristode has exactly 11 offers, all dated June 6, from the following schools: Alabama, Arizona, Cincinnati, Kansas, Miami, Michigan State, Texas Tech, UCLA, USC, Wake Forest, and Xavier.

Then, on June 10, Aristode posted this:

That's 15 schools. He removed Michigan State and added Connecticut, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, and Virginia.

On August 23, Aristode announced visits to Michigan State (back again?), USC, and Duke, and Matt Giles of SI published an article saying that Duke's offer to Aristode "went under the radar". Perhaps not so coincidentally, 247 Sports indicates an August 23 offer from Duke on their timeline.

He's scheduled to be at Duke this weekend. We should know more soon.

23. Braylon Mullins (6-4 SG): Duke offer, AND 10 finalists are Alabama, Connecticut, Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Purdue, Tennessee, and UNC

Past and future visits to Durham:

Braylon Mullins (official October 4)

Adam Zagoria reports that Braylon Mullins "will no longer visit Duke but may still visit Tennessee, his HS coach tells me". I would embed the social media post below, but it's in reply to another post that has Mullins in a UNC uniform after his recent visit to Chapel Hill, and we don't need to see that.

I believe Duke has prioritized Acaden Lewis over Braylon Mullins.
Makes sense to me. Duke will likely lose one or both of Foster and Proctor after this season. Lewis is more capable of playing on the ball. Mullins is bigger and has a lot of overlapping skills with other guards/wings that might be at Duke next year, like Isaiah Evans, and Darren Harris, Kon Knueppel.

I'm not so sure Foster will be leaving unless he has a huge year.

You can hear in his Podcast how much he loves Duke. If he is the sole point guard next year, there could be good NIL money in it for him and he will showcase his talents.

A guy can dream can't he?
