2025 All Tournament Thread

Here's another view with the top 8 players. It jumps off the screen the coaches that are winning with continuity/culture - Matt Painter, Izzo, Sampson, BYU Coach - vs the teams that are just free-agent U.
I don't know...I'd have to pull the freshmen out of the line-ups, and also account for guys like Johni Broome who shows up as a different logo but is in his 3rd year at Auburn, to try and get a feel for continuity. Clearly Purdue, MSU, BYU and Houston have it. The rest of the schools are a real mix, including Duke who has exactly one non-freshman among its 8 players.

I think it shows that there are a lot of different routes to success, including new coaches being able to completely flip rosters and be elite immediately (Michigan, Kentucky, Arkansas, Duke) and coaches being somewhere in the middle.

Come on, a lot of us on here have a “too-small jacket” that we still wear even though we have gained a significant amount of weight (fat) and have steadfastly refused to get a new jacket or have a tailor take it out.

Not me, of course, as I still have the same 28” waist that I had at age 14. 😉
Only now you are measuring around your thigh?

Is it me or is he giving every team 100% chance to win their S16 game? I’m missing something.
You are off by one column. Each team is 100% to make the S16, of course. The column to the right shows the chances of winning the next game.

Sure, part of this is NIL/$. But I see a lot of players who aren’t letting themselves be defined by how they were ranked out of high school.

Sion James is playing in his first NCAA tourney. I’m stoked for him.

7 of the 8 Elite Eight teams are a top 2 seed and a top 8 KP team. The only top 8 KP team that didn't make it was seeded low (Gonzaga) and had to face Houston in the 2nd round, losing by 5 points.

Texas Tech is the Cinderella, only a 3 seed and ranked #9 on KP.

Yes, saw that. Hoping that the KenPom ratings prevail again today, at least in the East Region.

THE big question of the day:

Are the Blue Devils the Destiny Darlings of '24-'25?

(With fond respect to Bob Harris, RIP)

Besides Duke, who is everyone cheering for? The #1 seeds to go down? I'm not totally sure I'd prefer TN over Houston if we win, for example. But maybe....I think I want to see Florida and Auburn both eliminated too. Very chalky so far ....

I'm rooting for all the #1 seeds to win, because that means ...................................

GoDuke!

The homogenized court designs in the NCAAT nowadays are really a shame. Like, what if Laettner's shot had happened on this bland, empty court instead of that awesome classic Philadelphia Spectrum graphic?
Hate the homogenized designs. Have hated them for years. Corporate and boring.

Even more astonishing, the elite eight were kenpom’s top 8 before the tourney started. This is a screen grab i took just as selection Sunday started:

This team is WAY better than the 2019 team. Doesn't mean it'll win, but that team ran hot and cold and wasn't deep and had the ball in the wrong guy's hands down the stretch of games and was tremendously underwhelming in the 80 minutes leading up to the Elite Eight.

The '19 team's net rating on KenPom would be 7th best this season. Their Torvik T-Rank from when Zion returned for the ACC Tournament to the end of the season was just 13th.
