2024 FB Bowl Watch

AL isn't going to drop that far in the SEC pecking order. Bowls know they travel, and they haven't been available for a long time.
I largely tend to agree. But is there a chance Bama fans decide they don’t care since they aren’t in the playoff and don’t bother traveling?

When do they announce these bowl games? I thought it would have been immediately after the playoff announcement.

The games will trickle in as teams are decided, I don't think there's any "set time". We should know by 5PM for sure.
Here's a list of all the games and matchups, but how well it's kept up to the minute I have no idea.

The wikipedia link gets updated very quickly. It's like a race for some people to make the edits.

Realistically, you now have Miami, Syracuse, Duke, Lou, GT, pretty much in that order jockeying for the 6 good bowls.
Pop Tarts, Gator, Holiday, Mayo, Sun, Pinstripe.
We should be in the Holiday or Mayo bowls unless we get screwed by the ACC honchos.

Syracuse could prefer Holiday over Gator since I believe it has a bigger payout.

Yes, but the process I believe is like a HS dance where you have the bowls and teams feeling each other out, supervised by the league office and ESPN. Also, the league gets the money anyway.

I thought the bowl money rule changed to placate FSU and Clemson. In any case my point is that I think Gator is in as much play for us as Holiday and Mayo. The Athletic projects Syracuse in Holiday and us in Gator. We’ll know soon enough of course, and FWIW I’d be happy with Holiday or Gator, and content with Mayo.

I don't think it makes a huge difference unless you get to the CFP. So Clemson and SMU get a bonus, especially SMU as they do get money from the CFP bonus vs. not getting anything from the regular ACC payment schemes.

Per the San Diego UT, the announcement for the Holiday Bowl is expected this morning. It’s 11:30 am out here, so still 30 minutes for them to be right. ;-)

I think the Bowl was hoping to get Clemson, so maybe they didn’t start discussions in earnest until late yesterday.

I wonder what the programs in play want? I think that will be taken into account.
