Looking at opening day games and the best one is Gonzaga-Baylor, but it unfortunately starts at 11:30pm EST. Would have liked to watch that one but just cannot stay up that late.

Texas-Ohio State might be worth watching but starts at 10pm.

Guess I will have to be satisfied with Duke-Maine…

The ESPN bet futures odds for the national champion are interesting.

Duke is the favorite at 9-1, followed by UConn (10-1) and Kansas (11-1).

I think this is slightly skewed by the fact that Duke is a very public team so betting on futures is often inflated (similar to the Lakers), but it shows people are very excited about this team. Personally, I'm optimistic this could be the Duke best team at least since Coach K's final season, and perhaps even beyond that.

There's a pretty decent slew of other potentially interesting games in addition to those you mention, including a number of good matchups involving mid-majors expected to be in top 1-3 spots in their leagues so potential NCAA tournament teams:

3:00 St. Louis-Santa Clara (You Tube)
6:00 McNeese St.-S. Dakota St. (You Tube)
7:00 UCF-Texas A&M (ESPN+), Kentucky-Wright St. (ESPNU); Louisville-Morehead St. (ESPN+), James Madison-Ohio U. (ESPN+)
7:30 UAB-Vermont (ESPN+)
8:00 Memphis-Mizzou (ESPN+), Duquesne-Lipscomb (ESPN+), Arkansas St.-Akron (ESPN+)
8:30 Florida-S. Florida (SEC Network)
9:00 Alabama- NC Ashville (ESPNU)
10:00 USC-UT-Chattanooga (BTN), St Mary’s-Towson (ESPN+), Nevada-Sam Houston St. (Mtn West Network),

USF giving #21 Florida trouble late in the 1st but Florida starting to take control only down by 3

Also might need the jinx thread for the A&M-UCF game

I think this is the best shot we've had at going undefeated since 2011 and 2019. Kyrie's injury and Jack White's and Cam's missing shots killed the deal on those attempts. I think the defense and the the ability to shoot the three gives us a very small chance this year.

Obv it hasn't happened since 1976, but I didn't think anyone would ever repeat after 91-92 and it's happened twice.

I like how you're thinking. To even have a slight shot of going undefeated, I think you have to have a defense that can turn up the intensity and win games when the offense has a bad night. This team, this defense, had that potential IMO.

We will have to shoot, rebound, and protect the ball a lot better than we did tonight if we have any such aspirations. Not to mention avoiding minutes-long non-slaughts like we had in the first half tonight.

Fascinating that the transfer from Duke who had the best night was Blakes. Roach and Mitchell both had meh stat lines. Stewart only got 13 minutes in a competitive game (yay to seeing a ranked SEC team go down, though). Good for Reeves getting some court time (in a blow out, though).

Stewart started and managed to collect four fouls in his 13 minutes. Kind of like last season.
