WNBA: The 2024 Regular Season and Playoffs

Triple Dub for CC. Fortunate on the 10th rebound but it was still a close game with all the starters on the floor for both teams. Some saying stat padding, but I don't see it. I saw a quote from WNBA great Lisa Leslie that CC even made her better and she was sitting in the front row watching. CC has 'it" for sure. I can't believe how many WNBA games I watched this year. Even one would have been one more than I ever had before CC and Indiana. I really like her teammates too.

I'm really impressed with how much the entire team, including Clark, has improved. I have also watched more WNBA games this year than ever before. You can put me on the CC bandwagon, she's my favorite player. I'm a big Steph Curry fan, she reminds me of Steph. There's a lot to like with her teammates as well. Boston, Hull and Mitchell are really playing well.

Both teams benched their starters after Clark let the Fever to a huge 4th quarter lead in this blowout. Well all the starters except Reese who was the only starter still in game, shooting and shooting until she got her double/double. I saw a social media post praising her double/double count and all I could think about was how cheap that was. I will give Reese credit, she is very tall and has very long arms and it makes her a great rebounder. She's basically a 1 trick pony at this point but it's a good trick. Well 2 tricks, she's done a good job of attaching herself to Clark to make herself famous.
100% agreement, Elvis. Angel Reese is not even 1/2 of the player that Caitlin Clark is. There really is no comparison. Clark is quite likely the most highly-skilled player in the history of women’s basketball, while Reese is average or below average at just every basketball skill other than layups and rebounding.

It’s a joke to even mention them in the same breath.

I don't really care for Angel, but couldn't she improve and develop more skills as she matures?

Yes, Caitlin Clark is a much better overall player than Angel Reese. But I think you're doing Reese a huge disservice here. She has posted the longest streak of consecutive double-doubles in the history of the league. You don't do that by being "below average". Is her shooting sub-par, to the point of being cringe-worthy? Absolutely. But that will improve, and meanwhile her coach isn't giving her the amount of run time she's getting because she's been "below average" overall. She's a decent defender, and she's not just a decent rebounder: She is THE TOP rebounder in the entire league. That alone is probably enough to keep her on the floor.

I don't like Angel Reese, but she's a good player. Obviously she's not as good as Clark, who is having one of the best rookie seasons of all time. But that hardly means she's chump change, which is what your post implies.

I said Reese has two above average basketball skills — layups and rebounding. To get a double double — and since when did anyone make a big deal about a center getting 10 pts and 10 reb? — you just need to make five baskets on layups, put backs, bunnies, etc. and then get 10 rebounds.

I don’t consider that anything to make a big deal out of, especially when she is one of the biggest players on the court in every game she plays and is always camped right around the basket. She is basically the female version of Armando Bacot. I’m just not impressed, sorry.

Oh, and I should also mention that her personality and demeanor are among the worst I’ve seen in the women’s game. I guess some WNBA fans like her, though I cannot figure out why.

You can say she's "one of the biggest players on the court", sure, but those first two words are doing a lot of heavy lifting there. She's seldom the biggest on the court. 6'3" frequently isn't even the biggest on the court in the NCAA, and in the WNBA, she's one of the smaller centers. There's a lot more to rebounding than size.

And maybe you missed the part about her leading the league in rebounding? Or maybe you just aren't aware of how good she's actually been. Let me put it this way: A'ja Wilson is having a record-breaking season on the glass this year. If the season were to end right now, A'ja Wilson would have the second-most rebounds per game in the entire history of the WNBA. Why second-most? Because Angel Reese is more than a full rebound per game ahead of her. Angel Reese is leading A'ja Wilson for most per game in a single season all-time by more than A'ja is leading 13th place on the list. Angel Reese is not the female version of Armando Bacot (who isn't even good enough to make it to the NBA). Angel Reese is the female version of Dennis Rodman. She's even got some of his personality.

But that's a Hall of Fame start to a career, whether you are impressed or not.

Oh my goodness, I’ve never heard so much praise for a WNBA center who is good at getting rebounds. But each to his own. 🤷‍♂️

Reese appears to be a really really good rebounder, with a good sense of timing and good anticipation. She is a solid all star level player. But I don't know if it's an act or a real grudge, she's really obsessed with CC, who is other worldly in both personality and talent.

Well that's a major bummer. She'll probably still set the rebounds per game record (since games you don't play don't count against you), but A'ja is almost certainly going to get the new cumulative totals records. Hopefully, it doesn't affect her play beyond this year. It's a wrist injury, so it's going to hamper working on her shot, which, unfortunately for her, is one of the areas she needs to work on most.

I'm not a fan of her announcement post on Twitter, which includes a "me against the world" trope that is tired and just not true. She's been living a charmed life. Why does she have to act so aggrieved?
