What Game are You Watching Tonight?

I guess it's a positive sign for Duke Football that it is the opening day of the College Basketball season and there is very little discussion of college basketball happening on DBR, the Women's loss in Europe notwithstanding. I also understand that the YouTube TV vs ESPN issue is limiting many cord cutters viewing abilities. These are tough times we are living in.

Some years back, we had a thread titled as this one is, to draw attention to games that might be of interest THAT DAY/NIGHT. I understand that this might duplicate certain threads that brevity works very hard, and is much appreciated for, maintaining, but I like that the subject line might grab the attention of the reader for something they need to pay attention to...now.

At any rate, tonight my attention goes to Florida v. Arizona from Las Vegas. 7PM EST. TNT.

We play the Gators in about a month and I am very curious to see how their transfer rich backcourt of Xavian Lee (Princeton) and Boogie Fland (Arkansas) pair with Florida's title-winning returning front line. I also watched some of Arizona freshman, Koa Peat, during the FIBA 19-and-unders this summer and he was a BEAST.

I will also be watching the highest profile games not on ESPN (both tonight) - so Florida/Zona and at least some of the BYU/Nova game

The obvious picks are Florida-Arizona and BYU-Nova. But, High Point-Furman (6:30, You Tube, not You Tube TV) should be a very good battle of mid-majors picked at the top of their leagues.

The Sun Belt-MAC Challenge has several matchups involving teams you wouldn't be surprised to see giving a 3-4 seed fits in the NCAAs, including Kent St.-Troy, Akron-James Madison, Ohio U.-Arkansas St. and, to a lesser degree, Miami (Oh)-ODU (all on ESPN+ at 7:00).

Also, I might save a peak for whether the underdogs might hang around a bit in games where a mid or low-major picked in the top 3-4 of its league is going against a power conf. team, including St. John's-Quinnipiac (Fox1, 6:30), Michigan-Oakland (Fox1, 8:30), Pitt-Youngstown St. (ACCNx, 7:00), SMU-Tarleton St. (ACCNx, 7:00), Vandy-Lipscomb (SEC+, 8:00), St. Mary's-St. Thomas (ESPN+, 10:30) [and I'd do the same for Michigan St.-Colgate, but don't get BIG+, at 7:00].

In theory, BC @ Florida Atlantic (ESPNU, 7:00) should be a close game, but I can't imagine anyone getting fired up to watch BC.
