Welcome to Duke, Cooper Flagg!

Welcome to the Brotherhood Cooper Flagg!
Can’t wait to see you play for the good guys.
I’m so happy and excited for you and Duke.

Huge news. Best recruit for Duke since RJ Barrett or Jahlil Okafor. Unlike both of those guys, Cooper is going to be a truly dominant force on defense in addition to being an elite offensive player. Duke will likely run the offense through him a ton of the time -- like a point-forward -- and will have him anchoring the D with shot blocking that is a game-changer. I cannot even begin to state how big this is for Duke's prospects next season!!

Super excited about this one. Welcome Cooper. Any chance Ace follows him?
BIG News! A year with Cooper, and then maybe Ace!?! Go DUKE!

Duke has not offered Ace and even though he elevated his play at Peach Jam, I don't think he is someone who would ordinarily be on Duke's radar. Ace is currently unranked as a prospect by 247 and appears to only have one offer from a P6 team, West Virginia. I would love to see Ace reach the point where he made sense as a Duke recruit, but that just isn't the case at the moment.

With all these riffs on Cooper's last name, we need one the other way:

Welcome to Duke, Cooper! Next year is going to be a barrel of fun!

Welcome Cooper n thank you for making my day! So happy to have this young man as part of the Duke family!

Ace would still be a 2025 recruit right? So he probably won’t play with Coop anyway but might work his way up to top 50ish in the meantime.

Maybe we’ll capture the Flaggs? Sorry, best I could do on short notice. The only Cooper reference I know is the tire maker and I doubt that will get any traction. I won’t tread there.

Also, Ace is a 2025 recruit.

My daughter is at the University of Alabama and 2 of her roommates are from Connecticut. She said they get to live another day. Cooper Flagg, saving lives.

Zion?

Zion wasn't the #1 recruit in his class. I believe Jason was referring to purely recruiting rankings.

Hard to believe that Zion was #5. In August I saw him in that exhibition in Canada, and my judgment (???) was that no one in basketball history had a better combination of strength, bulk and skill than Zion. How was he rated below RJ, Reddish, Nassir Little and Bol Bol?

Welcome to Duke Cooper! These are exciting times to be a Duke fan! Can’t wait to see him play for us next year. Hey Ace, c’mon and join your brother in the Brotherhood!!

I think he came from a small school background. People didn't realize he could dominate a higher level of competition as easily as he did.

Yeah I figured that was the case too. It would be amazing, but unlikely for Cooper to be a better freshman than Zion or Banchero either for that matter.

One player who comes to mind as a comparison is Shav Randolph in terms of big expectations/hype. Shav was more of a true big man but I remember the hype for him being huge - maybe that was due to his family ties to NC teams. Cooper seems like the far more complete player but getting Shav was a big deal at the time.

So I guess the question is, does Cooper cut his own steak?
