Welcome to Duke, Cameron and Cayden Boozer!!

I believe their numbers should be available next year. Cayden wears #2 and Cameron wears #12. Cooper Flagg is wearing #2 this year, so it will be available next year. No one has the #12 jersey number this season that Cameron prefers.

I love CeCe in her Duke jacket!

They are products of IVF. Two separate fertilized eggs that were screened to not have sickle cell anemia.

(Must resist urge to make political comment on why Duke fans should support the right to fertility treatments. Must... resist....)
I don't know why we're even attempting to joke about making it political. Las Vegas was just stating a fact (at least how I read it).

There's an ESPN documentary that tells the story of Cameron and Cayden's older brother having sickle cell anemia and how they helped save him:

Welcome to Duke Cameron and Cayden! Excited to have them on board for sure!

When is the last time brothers played for Duke and at least one didn’t win a national championship?

I took this question to mean, "When is the last time brothers played for Duke and none of them won a national championship?"

Answer: I don't know. Someone may have to go further back.

Tyus Jones (2015), Tre Jones
Miles Plumlee (2010), Mason Plumlee (2010), Marshall Plumlee (2015)
Ryan Kelly (2010), Sean Kelly (2015)
Joe Pagliuca, Nick Pagliuca (2015)
Patrick Davidson, Jordan Davidson (2010)
Justin Caldbeck, Ryan Caldbeck (2001)

I found this article about the Caldbeck brothers, where I learned that Justin was the Khaman Maluach of his time.

Justin was deciding between Penn and Duke. Despite wanting to go to Duke ever since he watched Johnny Dawkins play in 5th grade, the Wharton School of Business at Penn loomed large among the possibilities. His mother told him to flip a coin. It landed on Penn. “That made me angry, and that is how I knew Duke was the right choice. I have no regrets,” Justin said.

Billy Dat, Thank you so much for sharing this. wow. My heart is raw from thinking of what CeCe and Carlos have been through, and how they have handled it. I have new appreciation for the challenges of those dealing with Sickle Cell Anemia. I certainly understand now why Carmani is featured in the Boozer twins' announcement. We are welcoming more than just two great basketball players.

I'm writing this from Duke's Blood Cancer Treatment, for my monthly IVIG. I am beyond grateful to have been declared cancer free several years ago. I just have to get immune system boosters. Many of the patients around me are not so fortunate -- they are dealing with active cases, and with pain. Every time I come here, I am reminded again of the preciousness of each day and of good health. My friends, let's not waste our days by majoring in the minors, by negative emotions, by senseless divisions. I'm not preaching, I am hoping and wishing, and being very grateful.

Go Duke!
We're truly blessed hustle. One year of cancer in remission this month for me. God is good!

GoDuke!

I’m guessing that, at least with Cameron, 2025-26 may be his only shot.

Can we say that all our father-son groupings have won national championships? Admittedly we are forecasting on the arrival of the Boozer twins. But then we have the Buckleys -- physicist Jay was FF in 1963 and 1964. Look-alike son Clay won NC in 1991 and had four FFs. Surely, there are other father-son pairs at Duke, although I would limit time period to Bubas Era and later.

(I can't wait until the season starts!)

@OldPhiKap: If he follows through on being a one-and-done, Cameron Boozer has only one shot to win a title in 2025-2026, but for purposes of this question, he has up to three additional chances to claim a Boozer brothers title, depending on how long Cayden plans to stay.

@sagegrouse: The Boozer family already has a national championship (Carlos in 2001). As for other father-son pairings, Gary Melchionni (1970-1973) and Lee Melchionni (2002-2006) have not won a title.

Nor did Dave and Alex O’Connell.
