The saga of Daniel Jones thread

I’ll believe it when I see it, for better or worse.

No one has ever questioned his work ethic, his athleticism or his attitude. But my friends who root for the Giants say that even after all these years, he simply cannot go through a progression and make a good decision about where to throw.

If that somehow changes, awesome. But I’m not getting on a hype train until we see it in multiple regular-season games.

Having more than half a second might help! :ROFLMAO:

When has he ever had a chance to go through his progressions? I suspect that's hard to do on the full run.

Bears fans say the same thing about every quarterback protected by our perennially awful OL. IMO these fans are enablers insomuch as they think the QB's job is to be the impossible hero-savior, which enables the franchise to forever feature terrible offensive lines.

There's a case to be made that he got a case of happy feet while the Giants' line was at its worst. (It's never been good, per se.) But then that's something he'll have to overcome.

And yes -- there are plenty of people who feel that he doesn't read the game very well, including pre-snap. The NFL generally doesn't lend itself to sitting in a pocket and then figuring out where to go with the ball. You read the defense perfectly, like a Manning or a Brady, or you improvise, like a Mahomes or an Allen.

Dig into the stats on the average Time to Throw for each QB, and you'll see that there are plenty of very effective QBs getting the ball out considerably quicker than he does.

Worth noting, speaking of NextGen Stats -- on the play in which Jones famously stumbled before he could reach the end zone, he hit a top speed of 21.23 mph, faster than any QB over a span of several years before Kyler Murray barely beat that mark. I don't know if he's been quite as fast since the injury.

My man. Perhaps allow some hope for positive outcomes.
