The saga of Daniel Jones thread (latest update: Released by Giants)

DJ is toast in NY.
In the grand scheme of the NFL quarterbacks.
I am not a knowledgeable football fan, but Daniel Jones is unlikely to be a sought after Quarterback by other teams. Yes New York Giants have not provided the players to make a winning team. He definitely has talent but his team has been losing for years.

So Danny Dimes ended up being the QB everyone said should not of been drafted that high. Good kid but unfortunately not a legit NFL QB

He’s a legit NFL quarterback. But just not starter quality. Teams would be very happy to have him as their #2 guy.
I dunno. Most NFL teams want their backup QB to be the 33rd best in the world. Of course that isn't possible.

If my Seahawks obtained Jones as a backup I'd be quite cautious about my optimism.

Of course our offensive line is trash, so there's no reason to expect him do better in Seattle than in New York.

I am not close to the salary structure machinations in the NFL but Schefter says DJ has a $23MM injury guarantee and so that means they don't want him getting injured and being owed that $$$. Rough business, especially considering how he put his health on the line behind that pathetic o-line year after year.

I’ll take him in Dallas
Really, why? I'm not a Cowboys fan but after living in Austin for 13 years I guess you could say I've taken an interest in their welfare. Jones doesn't have much of an offense to work with as a Giant but his fundamentals appear so bad to me, I honestly doubt he'll start another game in the NFL and expect he'll be out of the NFL w/in the next year or two.

He might stick as a backup. Hard to turn down $5+ million per for holding a clipboard and wearing a headset.

Because Dak isn’t the answer and Dallas needs someone

I understand doubting Jones as a savior, I just like him better than anyone currently on the team and I want him out of NY. It’s not anything deeper than that🤷‍♂️
And it seems he might be available. (insert joke about a win-win for teams that lose-lose.)

He probably won’t be available until after the season. Trades have to pass waivers after the trade deadline, or something like that.
