I'm not sure anyone has ever argued Jones is a high caliber QB. The year he dragged the Giants into the playoffs was impressive, to me at least, because he did it without anything close to a true WR1 and with a mostly terrible offensive line. One can appreciate his effort and those kinds of minor successes, again considering the personnel around him, without thinking Jones is a high caliber QB.Daniel Jones is not a high caliber QB. He gets praise for not having any blocking. Jones best days are likely in the past. NY Giants are a bottom dwelling team.
This is my take. A Mid quarterback can succeed in a good situation (see Castle the year brady was out, or eli in his SB years)....but even a really good quarterback is going to flop in a bad situation.I'm not sure anyone has ever argued Jones is a high caliber QB. Right or wrong, the QB always takes a large share of the blame for a losing team, but it's crazy to me that the criticisms of the Giants offensive personnel haven't really changed in at least five years. (The possible exception is Nabers, who could become a true WR1, but meanwhile the Giants lost Barkley.) Jones isn't the solution to any team looking for a top-notch QB, but neither would improving on Jones fix the 7-8 other Giants offensive positions that also need improvement.
And it's a bald link. Tsk Tsk.Link doesn't work.
I don't have much sympathy. That size of payday comes with sky-high expectations. Several of us raised this reality after he signed the extension. There was a chorus of basically "get yours" from most folks in this thread. Fine, but don't complain about the consequences when you turn in a bottom 3 QBR.I don't know if others have seen it, but there is a video on social media, where the Giants' players are leaving the locker room after the game and they have to walk outside along a cordoned-off path (to get to their vehicles, I presume) and the Giants apparently allow fans near this path (within 20 feet or so) and the Giants' fans are just crucifying Daniel Jones, as he walks alone out of the locker room, screaming all sorts of epithets like "you s*ck, Daniel Jones" and things far worse. It is truly despicable and shameful and embarrassing. I don't know why the Giants would allow fans to get that close to the players? I could see a situation where a lunatic fan (maybe someone who's lost a bet on the game) tries to attack a player.
The wording of "Fine, but don't complain about the consequences..." makes it seem like you accept the Giants fans' behavior. It also leaves open the possibility that you think even more severe fan "consequences" would be acceptable as well.I don't have much sympathy. That size of payday comes with sky-high expectations. Your post leaves open the possibility that you're fine with a team vastly overpaying its players and the fans having no recourse but to suffer in silence. The wording of "Fine, but don't complain about the consequences..." makes it seem like you accept the Giants fans' behavior. It is very possible you did not mean either of those, so I wanted to point these out in case your post just reads badly and you wanted to clarify your position.
Watch it, BDW. You're picking a fight that we don't need.Your post leaves open the possibility that you're fine with a team vastly overpaying its players and the fans having no recourse but to suffer in silence.
Hmm, yes, that also seems like a foolish thing to ask you to clarify.
Angry fans are welcome to let their team's players know how they feel. I imagine it really sucks for Daniel, but given how much he has been paid, he has to deal with the consequences of looking awful.
I agree with you, duke79 — that type of “fan” behavior is disgraceful. I really like Daniel Jones, soI find it to be particularly upsetting. But even if I were not a fan of his, I would still believe that behavior to be out of bounds.I don't know if others have seen it, but there is a video on social media, where the Giants' players are leaving the locker room after the game and they have to walk outside along a cordoned-off path (to get to their vehicles, I presume) and the Giants apparently allow fans near this path (within 20 feet or so) and the Giants' fans are just crucifying Daniel Jones, as he walks alone out of the locker room, screaming all sorts of epithets like "you s*ck, Daniel Jones" and things far worse. Yeah, Washington was just the boost he needed!DJ drives for another TD in the 2 minute drill. Giants lead 12-9 at the half despite having the ball only 3 times. DJ 8-13 96 yds one td pass, 3 runs for 21 yds.
