Ryan Young is doing this as an extracurricular for fun and is not contractually obligated. More flexibility based on what else is going on and who they want to talk to/where they are in the season. I'm betting this episode is to celebrate the seniors as these three guys, at least in theory, have run out of eligibility and are going to be honored this weekend.
Three legends who have created some really special memories for us all.

I thought that too Billy Dat, but I wouldn't shut the door on that entirely based on recent history... many guys have been honored on senior night but have come back for an extra year (look just down the road for an example in Bacot).
Truth be told, I'd much rather err on the side of caution and give Jeremy two senior nights than risk him not getting any... I still think its a miscarriage of justice that Joey Baker never got to experience his own senior night, even if it really was nobody's fault in particular.
All that said, considering that it was generally considered a "win" to get Jeremy to return for his senior year to begin with, I think it's safe to say he's the least likely of our core four guards to return. I hope he proves me wrong though and the NIL money cannon can work some magic.
I heard last night during the Kansas game that Hunter Dickinson walked on senior night (I guess one year is enough in Phogland) but specifically said that he isn't foreclosing the idea of returning next year (let the bidding begin!). So the two aren't mutually exclusive.
I like most others would love to see Jeremy back next year. He seems to be enjoying himself a lot.

If Jeremy and Mark Mitchell return and we land Maluach, as now predicted, I think on paper this will be our most dominant roster in Jeremy's time in Durham. And it's even more dominant if Proctor or McCain return.
That may be enough, along with NIL, to bring him back as a starter/captain. I mean, could he have more fun or make more money somewhere else? Another college, G-league? I don't think so. And he's not in any mock drafts.

I know Ryan is thinking about playing overseas for a few years at least, getting a chance to see the world a bit. Depending on when his international season starts, he could be on campus every now and then to do interviews with next year's team.
This was his idea. If he is able to keep running with it, I think he should.
And if he wants to pass it on, I think we could bequeath it to social media superstar Jared McCain as an extra inducement for him to come back for another season
