The Brotherhood Podcast (hosted by CFos)!

Great interview that shed a lot of light onto the inner workings of the Duke program. I thought a lot of what Rachel said contradicted what we've heard from guests on other podcasts in terms of the role of NIL. I've heard that a coach's primary job in today's era is managing their NIL salary cap, and that everything else is secondary. But Baker describes a very different landscape in which NIL is a small factor but is not "the main thing."

Granted, Cooper Flagg is in a very different position from the typical player and he has his sights on a much bigger prize (an NBA #1 pick) as compared to a small endorsement deal. Most players don't have that luxury. But still, it was refreshing for me to hear Baker say that the fundamentals of college basketball and what Duke represents have not changed.

I understood them to say that, of the guys Duke targets, NIL is not “the main thing”.

I think there’s a big difference between players who see their prime basketball earning years after college (Duke recruiting targets) and those whose primary earnings will come before they graduate (either not future pros or not highly paid future pros).

Duke MBB teases an Order of the Phoenix takeover in the next Brotherhood Podcast:

Why wait until tomorrow? Episode 46: Blue Devil Suns is available now.

"Brotherhood Pod in Phoenix! Special edition episode with the national champs and current Phoenix Suns: Mason Plumlee, Grayson Allen and Tyus Jones. The trio was in attendance for our win at Arizona and recap the game. They also talk about their favorite Coach K & Jon Scheyer stories, fatherhood, playing together in the NBA, and advice to this year's Duke squad. Huge shout out to the champs for their time!!"

Mason is awesome. Especially when he asks Grayson if he thinks the nba should get rid of flagrants. I laughed out loud.

Tyson and Grayson had good things to say. Fun show.

He really was! Mason Plumlee has been, low-key, the best podcast host yet (I'm not counting Jay Bilas, who is super polished at that kind of thing). His voice is distinctive but very unassuming; I listened to the video without watching it, and he managed to hold my attention while I was working on other things. Good sense of humor; he played off Tyus Jones pretty well, and was able to shake some good comments loose from a very reticent Grayson Allen.

I think Ryan Young was decent at the job, and Caleb Foster is excellent when he goes off-script, but only average when he has to stick to the format.

Agree with the Mason praise, he was kind of a revelation. Very, very clever. I love how he called out Grayson for ceeding all infant childcare to his wife,

What really struck me was that it was a conversation between 3 savvy vets with current firsthand expert knowledge of basketball at the highest level. When they asked what they thought about this year's team, I loved Grayson's, "I hope these guys can start scoring more to make it a little easier on themselves".

I also love the perspective that I heard K say many times, regardless of who comes or goes from a team, every year is the only year you will play with that group...it's a finite amount of time that you have to revel in and stay in the moment.

I also liked Grayson and Mason's perspectives on their role on each of their Duke teams, and how it changed over time. Mason's observations about Jon showing his off-court leadership when he was a player was also instructive.

Very funny show, and very informative. I love our alums and any Plumlee is a great Plumlee.

The comment about how they treated Coach Scheyer his first year of coaching was funny also.
