Which point forward, Grant Hill or Shane Battier? I'm guessing Grant, as he brought the ball up the court more often than Shane. Indeed, Shane never averaged more than 2.1 assists a season at Duke, while Grant topped that number all four years.
(Not trying to start an argument here. I should know better than to define Shane by his stats alone.)
Not that we really need to debate it, but I don't really consider Shane a point-forward at all. He handled the ball nicely, but between Wojo, Avery, JWill, and Duhon, Shane never really initiated the offense. Heck, CWell was more of an initiator than Battier was for most of their time together.
Grant, on the other hand, was absolutely a point-forward, especially his senior season when Bobby was gone. Grant averaged 5.2 apg that year. I have not looked it up, but that is almost certainly the highest apg average for any non-guard in Duke history (Ferry averaged 4.7 apg as a senior).
