Soccer, Fútbol, It's just Football

The latest guy about whom transfer speculation is blowing up is Toulouse midfielder Amir Richardson (son of Micheal Ray), who was so impressive for Morocco at the Olympics. Everton and Spurs are reportedly in hot pursuit.

If they get the 6’6” Richardson to go alongside the 6’6” O’Brien, 6’5” Branthwaite, and 6’4” Tarkowski, Everton will look like a D3 basketball team coming of the bus.
They should be careful. Research has shown that players who have big moments in major tourneys are usually overvalued/overpaid by subsequent clubs. Think WC hattrick Rossi who landed big contracts after that WC but never lived up to the unrealistic expectations created by a worldwide broadcast of the best 3 or so games of his life.

Everton fans haven’t forgotten James Rodriguez.

Eredivisie is under way: PSV, AZ, and Twente all won on Saturday. Feyenoord stumbled out of the gate forthe second year in a row, drawing with promoted side Willem II. Ajax plays on Sunday.

Ajax won its opener 1-0 over Heerenveen despite resting most of its key starters. Fourth consecutive win in all competitions.

The quest for Pep continues. England named Lee Carsley (U21 coach) as interim coach. I like Lee and he coached the U21 to a Euro win last year. His a fine coach but much like Southgate lacked experience at the Club level before stepping up to the position It seems that the FA is giving itself more time and waiting for someone.

I don't know how much roster beefing-up Wrexham has done in the offseason but the owners are about to run into some hard realities methinks.

I've learn devastating news about Emma Haynes

Right now I think there best bet will be to fortify their position in League One for a couple of years before they have make a run for the next jump.

I would be surprised if they have a choice in the matter. It takes more and more $$ and other resources every step up. Even Mr. Reynolds may blanch at the necessary payroll to get a team promoted into the Championship.

Welcome to Carson, Marco Reus. Former Dortmund and Germany player signs for LA Galaxy.
Will be interesting to see how he will be used in an already crowded offensive-minded midfield. The 3 P’s (Puig, Paintsil and Pec) plus forward Joveljik are already penciled in as starters, none of whom play much defense. So if Reus also starts that will be 5 offensive mid/forwards and one overwhelmed mid trying to protect the back line.
So if all these guys stay healthy LAG will have to use Reus exclusively as a sub or else rotate out one of the Galaxy’s offensive stars. Wonder how the various key player egos will handle being on the bench at the start of the Galaxy’s big games?
