NFL 2024-25 General Discussion

I went to the Giants-Eagles game today. An absolutely beautiful day for a game but just atrocious offense from the Giants. 37 dropbacks for 43 net passing yards (105 air yards minus 62 lost to sacks) is a real mess. And Saquon showed his old team just how much they really miss him.

How do the Jets feel now after their big Davante Adams trade and then they get crushed by the Steelers 37-15 to fall to 2-5?

And the modern quarterback position has passed Aaron Rodgers by. He just can’t do what Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen can do.

This is likely Rodgers’ final season, and he’s not going out on a high note. He’s the best thrower of the football that has ever existed, and it’s not particularly close. But he’s a nut job of a person — anti-vaxxer, election denier, etc. Good riddance, I say.

Well, my Redsk, oh I mean my Commanders won against the Panthers, but lost their prized young QB to an injury (ribs). Who would have thought they would be 5-2 at this point? Certainly not me. Daniels better heal up quickly because I don't know how many games they will win with Mariota at QB. Although, he went 18 for 23, 205 yards, 2 TDs and ran for 34 yards. However, that was against the lowly Panthers.

GoDuke!

I am likely biased but I’ll take Marino as a pure thrower. Rodgers ability to move along with his throwing gives him the overall edge.

Lions' Offense in last 4 games - 18 touchdowns and 16 incompletions. This old Lions fan feels like he's entered an alternative universe.
As a Seahawks fan, I like the Lions. Is there any hope of Hutchinson returning this season? That injury happened when i was out of comms for a few weeks.

Maybe for the Super Bowl, obviously contingent on them getting that far. Glad to hear that you like the Lions....that's one of the advantages of having been so horrid for 60 years:).

You're not biased. I think the majority of football people would say that Marino was the greatest pure thrower of the football the game has ever seen. People that didn't get to see him play don't understand.

I was probably the only one still watching. But Troy and Joe were saying this game is over (Bucs were down 10 with not much time left), why are they still bothering, someone could get hurt. Then Chris Godwin went down with what was apparently a really nasty leg injury - ESPN wouldn't replay it. Evans went out earlier in the game - I think it is a hammy so there is a chance he could be back I guess. Then after Godwin got hurt, the Bucs still kept chucking the ball down the field when they had zero chance. I'm all for playing to the final whistle but this was just dumb.

And people wonder why NFL players want as much of their contracts guaranteed as possible and hold out. Godwin has made $80 million in his career - he will be fine. But he is turning 29 and will be a free agent this off season - he could have been up for a giant contract. Now, who knows.

Announcer on the chargers cardinals game reached a new low. Now a guy didn’t just suffer a “lower body injury.” Rather, it was a “lower body situation.”

He also used both the dreaded “stick his foot in the ground” and “put a hat on a hat.”

Ugh. Make it stop.

What about Billy Kilmer? You didn't like those end over end passes? Marino was great.
