NCAA Football 2024 (national discussion)

There's something so sweet about the B1G admitting Oregon, presumably with a bunch of incumbent ADs thinking "nice, great for the conference, not a problem for us." And here we are where they ate everyone's birthday cake.

It's delicious.

I am not an Alabama fan but I think Bama drops 50 on SMU if they played. SMU looks like a 8 win team in the SEC.
The issue is precedent. If you leave out SMU (11-1 regular season, no top 25 wins) but keep in Indiana (11-1, no top 25 wins), then no one is going to ever play in their conference title games. SMU was ranked ahead of Indiana this past week. So basically it’s a punishment to play for your conference championship. That’s a bad idea to actually implement. Teams will literally just not show up

I don't disagree. I don't think Indiana should be in. Notre Dame lost to a 7-5 Northern Illinois team which is worse than Bama losing to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt. I am just looking at the TV schedule to see which networks host each time slot because you could probably have Texas, Notre Dame, Bama, Tennessee and Ohio St. in that 6-11 seed range to get ratings. The potential matchup are endless from that prospective.
