NBA 2024-2025 General Discussion Thread

Wanted the Warriors to win and have them face LA in the 1st round. This was a terrible result. :(
I am a Warriors fan and I wanted them both to win last night and not face the Lakers, so I guess it was a "positive" loss since both those things couldn't happen.

I'm still a bit skeptical of this Warriors team, or which how Kerr's uses certain players, but I greatly prefer them playing a Rockets team new to the playoffs over the Luka Lebron Lakers. Just never know what to expect from a team in their first playoff appearance.

Of course that assumes the Warriors don't lose at home to the Grizzlies.....

Not a huge NBA fan. All these teams are randomly firing coaches. Who do they think will come in and save the day? Red Auerbach isn't standing outside waiting for those jobs. Seems like a lot of change for the sake of change.

I agree. A guy can be Coach of the Year one year, and fired the next. Or win a championship one year and two years later he's canned. Kinda confirms what I already believe -- coaching just isn't that important in the NBA. Most of them are running the same sets, using the same rotation patterns, etc as everyone else. A "good coach" is one that somehow keeps his players, or at least his star player(s) happy. More about the personality management than the on-court actual coaching. There are exceptions, but not many.

Some coaches getting fired are more random than others. I had no doubt the Suns would fire their coach after that team underachieved. I was surprised when Denver fired their coach, however. One not too random, the other seemingly random.

Are you sure this is the event you want to jinx? Asking for a friend.

While I'd like it to be a jinx, this is my honest assessment. All I'd like to see in the Western Conference is for the Lakers and Warriors to be eliminated as soon as possible. But I don't think the Rockets are the ones to do it. I have zero confidence in them.

Of course the GSW are always the team we want to win because of their great style of play and Steph. As for the Lakers, their time as that team to see go ASAP ended as soon as Luke joined. I'm not 'Bron fan but the passing those do display each game is just good entertainment and they have this coach named JJ that I kinda like. I don't think either team is complete enough to come out of the west...that might be the OKC.

I'll believe someone (Cavs) can beat the Celtics in the east when I see it.

Pelicans bringing in former Bad Boy Joe Dumars to becomes the new president of basketball operations after firing Griffin. Let's see if he can't turn things around for Zion and Co.

So.... Mount Rushmore of _______________. So far, Trae Young, Draymond Green, Dillon Brooks. Room for one more...
