Ok here we go. First two non-Duke players observations are 1) Wemby is silly 2) Vassell, Harper and Castle all looked really good in the first half. Tough team. 3) Klay Thompson looks washed.

Edgecombe with an incredible 34 point debut for the Sixers! Stat I saw said it was the 3rd highest in NBA history and the highest in the 2000s. Incredible dunk too - his game looks like a goood fit for the NBA!

Good win for the Sixers but Embid still nowhere close to what he used to be.

If you haven’t watched Wemby’s highlights….oh my! He looks bigger, stronger and more fluid than ever. Just some crazy plays.

With Davis and Lively, Dallas had two guys who theoretically were pretty good matchups against Wemby. And they got abused. And they have put some nice parts around him - Castle looked really good. Harper was the number 2 pick in the draft and they barely need him.

Wemby will get figured out.

Curious what this means to you.

He strikes me as transforming how the league plays the way James and Curry have, if he stays healthy.

He’s definitely a player that requires their own unique opposition game plan like hack a Shaq, but the the ones with transcendent physical gifts and skill tend to still do just fine.

He also seems to have that really intense desire to work and get better so if somehow they figure him out, he will find a way to get even better. I'm sure there are going to be haters but based on what I know of him, he seems like a hard guy not to like and respect.

Yeah, Flagg getting torched by the person most likely to start winning MVP awards this season in his very first NBA game is not necessarily the career defining moment for Cooper.

Now, it might be for Wemby. He looks ready to own the league.
Yeah, he's something special. IMO, have to go back to Wilt Chamberlain to find a player who had such unique size and abilities vs the opponents.

I don't know if the league can retool and configure multiple teams around 7'4" young men with ridiculous raw skills, great defense, and an offensive playbook that grows each offseason.

Over time teams will adjust playing styles to offset his advantages. The league is not static.

After winning the offseason in a lot of folks' eyes, the Hawks opened their campaign last night by playing horrific defense (especially in the paint), allowing the Raptors to shoot nearly 58% from the field, doing nothing in transition on either side of the ball, and they lost by 20. With a roadie at ascendant Orlando next, followed by a home game vs. the Thunder, the Hawks are already staring down the barrel of 0-3.

In other breaking news, the sun came up this morning.
