National POY Discussion

Broome gets the first of the five major NPOY awards from Sporting News.

I went to The Sporting News and did not see such a report. The link is to the Auburn 247sports site. As mentioned elsewhere the Sporting News report on their All-Ameican team shows Broome in the forefront and in color of Flagg and another player and lists the AA team in alphabetical order with Broome first. Broome may be their selection or the Auburn fan site read what they wanted to believe.

Yeah, I’m not finding it, either. All the news results are various outlets in Alabama that are parroting the initial interpretation of the All America Team.

I think the alphabetical order thing threw off the Auburn folks.

Flagg unanimously a 1st team AP All-American.

Chucky Hepburn from Louisville on the 3rd team is the only other representative of our conference. Not saying anyone else deserves it, but I wonder of the ACC has ever had so few players recognized. Just another example...

In 2022, only Paolo Banchero was from the ACC and he was a 3rd Team selection.

That was better than 2021, when no one from the ACC was named to the 3 All-American teams.

Cooper Flagg was just named a finalists for Naismith Defensive Player of the Year. Funny I don't see Hepburn on this list?

Ok now based on he’s a nominee on both lists,, that should be an argument in favor of him being NPOY.
However, on the other hand, maybe they give him the defensive award as a consolation prize or maybe he gets both or neither.

Chucky wasn't third team, he was honorable mention. The ESPN article doesn't list all the honorable mention guys for some reason, but CBS does. Maxime Reynaud was also honorable mention.
