Movies/TV worth watching (or at least discussing)

A couple nights ago I watched Free Solo, the documentary about Alex Honnold climbing the majestic El Capitan alone without a rope. Amazing athletic and mental feat, great documentary. Highly recommend.

Honnold has gotten recent attention for last weekend’s Netflix live broadcast of his free solo ascent of Taiwan’s talllest skyscraper. Believe me, the skyscraper climb pales in comparison to what he did on El Capitan.

I got vertigo just reading your comments. No thanks.

It definitely made me anxious even though I know how it comes out. One of his cameramen, a close friend, had to look away for large portions of the climb and was swearing he would never do thiis again. But to me watching Alex conquer his almost impossible goal made the documentary worthwhile.

Started watching the new Star Trek last night. (Starfleet Academy) Went in with little in the way of expectation, fell asleep at 2am after binging the three available episodes.
I guess I really like it. 😅
I'm on episode 3. Good thing I like sophomoric humor! it is, after all, age appropriate for me!

Lower Decks would be for you. It’s fantastic. Probably the best of new Trek….easily the best of new Trek. Its stories, lessons, continuity…everything. It’s like it was written by people that love Trek for fans of Trek.

I’m enjoying Academy. Like most of the new Trek it’s not great but filled with likable and relatable characters. I did most of the new shows at least entertaining enough to watch. Except Section 31. That was just bad. It’s by far the worst of the Star Trek in any media and one of the worse in pieces of sci-fi for an established franchise.

I felt this way during his skyscraper climb. Couldn’t watch parts of it.

I guess I can skip this one. (But I'm looking forward to the reviews!)

That review is from The Independent. (PS, I'm not putting this up as a political post. Amazon spent a ton of money on it, and it's being marketed world wide, so even though it's gonna flop, it's still a legitimate movie and thus fair game to discuss in this thread I'd think.)
