Movies/TV worth watching (or at least discussing)

Started Mob Land last night - just the first episode. Anyone else watching it?
Started but I haven't had much time to watch TV so only on the second episode. Good, bad or ugly I've been a fan of Guy Ritchie since Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels so I'm in until the end. I think I will binge it over the 4th.

F1 The Movie is a visual treat and well-worth seeing on a big, big screen. But don't go in expecting some creative, captivating story.

Here is my 100-word review: https://flixchat.blogspot.com/2025/06/visual-wonder-in-search-of-better-story.html

watched the first two episodes of The Bear Season 4 last night...by their standards pretty quiet and understated but I'd say they are just setting the table, as it were
Just downed the first two episodes and it's good so far. I wasn't down on S3 like many others, but getting back to a bit of urgency for S4 was good call.

Ive watched two now too. A lot of deep thinking/internal dialogue for these characters. Way better than S3.

Anyone else finish The Bear?

I thought it was fine and I'm hoping they can put together a purposely final season now. As someone who was totally cool with S3, I honestly think that S4 being similar to S1-2 yet much weaker just makes me appreciate S3 more.

S3 legitimately had better individual episodes (I'd say a few) than anything in S4.

Four episodes to go. Will be done soon.

I'm on episode 4. Splitting time between, Stick, Friends and Neighbors and The Bear.

Through 5 episodes. Hoping to get 6 later today. I saw the run times and 7 is a long one - over an hour. So far I'm enjoying this season - some ups and downs but overall good. Don't want to spoil anything, and I still have a long way to go. I will note that many of the best episodes throughout the course of the show are the ones where they only feature one regular and do a deep dive on them, and that held true again this season.

I love the music from The Bear. I found this page with a list of all the songs from this year, plus I think it has a link to past years. They choose incredible songs that really capture the moments, and are not always the best known songs.

Got through episode 7 of The Bear last night. My biggest takeaway is that Ayo Edebiri is an outstanding actress.
I know this is a minority opinion, but I actually don't love her acting. Her facial reactions are kinda overexaggerated and I don't see much variety in her approach to the character. She's kinda the same in every scene.

I watched Ep 7 last night and there was some seriously good acting by the actors playing Richie, Uncle Jimmy, and Carm. Really great, intense stuff.

very good character development this season, great scene either in episode seven or eight at the wedding, scene, around and under the table.

It is a weird experience watching both The Bear and Andor. “Richie” (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) is a front-of-restaurant manager and also a rebel fighting the Galactic Empire on another planet. 😳

Quiet day at work so logged off early and watched the rest of the season of The Bear. It had some ups and downs but overall was enjoyable. Agree with someone above that the wedding table scene was a highlight. I am likely in a minority but after loving her in the Fishes episode, I grew to dislike Jamie Lee Curtis' character and the scenes she was in. I know she wasn't necessarily meant to be "likeable" but I could do without her as a whole. I love the character development in the show but some of the extended one-on-one, super deep conversations started to drag.
