Movies/TV worth watching (or at least discussing)

I just looked up the show's episode guide to refresh my memory, and John Lithgow is Season 4. I started tapering off in Season 5, though some of the Season 6 episode descriptions sounded familiar. I don't think I got to Seasons 7 or 8. I was really into that show at the time it was first-run, but I don't miss it, and I haven't felt compelled to watch the continuation series or the current prequel series.
Thanks for feedback. You are correct-I just started season 4 with Lithgow,* not 3. I’ll probably quit after watching season 4 or 5.

* Did you know Lithgow graduated Harvard magna cum laude? And won a Fulbright scholarship to London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art? And that he won a Tony for his Broadway debut in The Changing Room. Impressive fellow!

I've waited to post this, but now that I'm almost done with Season 4 (the final season), I offer Borgen on Netflix as an excellent option for those looking for a really well-made political drama that addresses "current" geopolitical issues, politics, personal relationships, and issues facing the press covering the government.

The focus is on a moderate lifelong woman politician who surprisingly rises to power to become prime minister and how she handles the position, but other characters (including her spin doctor, a young woman reporter, and her family members) are developed very well. You learn a lot about the Danish system of government along the way. IMO, it's much better than The Diplomat, the last American political drama I watched.

It was made in Denmark so you have to deal with subtitles and they talk fast! For me, it was a challenge watching more than one episode a night for that reason, but the writing is excellent.

I wrote "current" in quotes above because, interestingly, the first 3 seasons span 2010-2013 and Season 4 (under a slightly different title, but easy to find in Netflix) takes place in 2022. It has most of the same characters so seeing them age and mature on the show and in real life is fascinating.

If you check it out let me know what you think!

Loved the first 2 seasons of this show. Season 3 was ok but I couldn’t get into season 4. For me, the reality-based tired resignation that comes with age is less appealing to watch than the vibrant foolish hopefulness of our 20’s and early 30s!

For the other fans of Silo here, I just stumbled onto a series of videos done by Adam Savage of Myth Busters. I've just watched a few of them, but they go into great detail on sets, props, costumes, etc. While I'm not surprised at the enormous amount of work that had to go on behind the scenes to put the series together, it's still stunning to see it in detail close up and described by the people that did the work.

Here's one as an example. There are quite a few others to choose from if you find this kind of thing interesting.

I've watched the first 3 episodes of The Pitt on Max staring Noah Wyle. I just assumed this was going to be an ER reboot but it is far from it. It's gritty, real and at times heart breaking. It focuses more on the medical issues and treatment along with social issues of the day than ER did. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I thought Season 4 was excellent and fascinating precisely because it shows the growth of characters over such an extended period of time and they very much looked the part because they were actually that much older.

In addition, the main geopolitical theme revolved around Greenland and its strategic importance to the US, Russia and China, so very topical!

Not sure which season he first appears, but Tom Hardy's character from Peaky Blinders (Alfie Solomons) may be my favorite minor TV character of all time.
Season two i believe. I recognize his voice easily from legend .it's distinct. I'm on season three now .I watch a few of peaky blinders. Then a few episodes of breaking bad.

I just can’t get Bane out of my head when he speaks. I’m also late to Peaky and just finished season 4 where Adrien Brody did a season long Don Corleone impression. I like it but find that I need to take a break for a bit between seasons.
