Movies/TV worth watching (or at least discussing)

I love this. I worked in a CF clinic for 2 years and I am dear friends with some legendary folks in the CF treatment community. Was always one of my favorite patient populations to care for. I got incredibly close to so many of those kids.
One of my closest friends had CF and received a double lung transplant at Duke hospital. The funniest and most unique fellow I’ve ever met. I went to his 50th BDay in January 2015 and his funeral in December of the same year. I guarantee you any medical professional who worked in that area would remember Brand.

In honor of the Emma Stone discussion, I started watching The Curse. After making it through two episodes, can someone give me any reason to stay with it?

I was referencing the discussion in the LTE thread where people were praising Emma Stone’s work. Sorry I thought that was in this thread so that was confusing.
I think fidel may have meant the reason to stick with it is Emma Stone, but I could be wrong.

By the way, Stone will be starring in yet another Yorgos Lanthimos pic later this year. It is described as a "sci fi comedy" about two people who kidnap the son of a powerful pharmaceutical CEO. She stars alongside Jesse Plemmons and Alicia Silverstone.

So, a reboot of Raising Arizona?

This. Although other than my inner 14 year old adoring her in Superbad, I don’t think I have seen her in anything. Somehow I never saw la la land.
Sorry, responded before having my coffee. She was great in La La Land but man The Curse is a struggle. Her acting is fine but I’m just not sure there is much redeeming about the show.

Have not see The curse but wanted to note this about its creators --

Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie are both geniuses capable of greatness, but can also be a bit obscure and confusing. Fielder, especially, gives off some Andy Kaufman vibes in his work... which can be both good and bad for the audience.

That is good background and I think what’s happening. It feels like a stand-up comedian intentionally bombing to create discomfort for the audience.

I loved the show. But yes, the show is more about creating a disorienting atmosphere than about plot or making sense. The Andy Kaufman analogy is a good one. The final episode is the most bizarre you will ever see. Just go with it - it is a fun/uncomfortable ride, if that makes sense. And Stone plays it brilliantly, imo 😜

She was great in La La Land which was a great movie though I didn't like how it ended - the timing didn't make sense to me, among other things. She was also really good in the Billie Jean King movie.

If you have any interest in pursuing this feeling, check out Nathan For You on Max. It scores 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and is listed under the genre "cringe comedy." Definitely not for everyone, but Nathan Fielder is a creative and unique talent.
