MBB: The 2026 Transfer Portal

Nik Khamenia just entered the portal.

Awful news.
Ooof that one really hurts.

He showed a lot of growth at the end of the season and I was really excited to see how he'd develop in his second year.

with that said, if we get Blackwell a 3 guard lineup makes a lot more sense without a star player still having a bench role.

Holy smokes. Not expecting that.

I wasn't necessarily expecting it, but I am not at all surprised. West Coast kid, didn't find a starting role (nor consistent individual success) this year, and far from a certainty for a starting role next year. I could easily have seen him staying, but I'm not surprised ever anymore when a backup enters the portal.

Per Sam Kayser Duke is showing interest in Abdi Bashir Jr from TCU 6'7 175 lbs played for Kansas State averaged 13.2 PPG. Shot 44% from 3

Jason - we're gonna need a DBR podcast live stream so we can keep up... This is exhausting, horrible for my productivity at work, but kinda fun.

Thank you for at least pointing us in the right direction this time.

HIs third school: Monmouth, K State, and ............

Context is important. Duke was Jacob Grandison's third school (2 years at Holy Cross, 2 years at Illinois, COVID/grad year at Duke), and I don't remember people turning up their nose at that news.

The difference here is that, to my knowledge, Abdi Bashir Jr is not a grad transfer. He spent 2 seasons at Monmouth and then his junior season at Kansas State. He appears to be a rising senior undergrad transfer, which Duke has not historically accepted.

A lot of players in the portal will bring up Duke's name to raise their profile and their price.

Maybe. It was worth bringing up because Duke does not often appear in these "receiving interest from the following schools" list, but the admissions/credits aspect of this would lead me to logically conclude that further developments are unlikely.

Maybe a stream for each of the major conferences: SEC, ACC, B1G, etc.

Just be careful to not cross the streams.

I worked hard for that one. :)
