MBB: The 2025 Transfer Portal

He is 22 years old it seems like and is not on any Euroleague teams radar. Maybe a diamond in the rough but good players in Europe end up on a top tier Euroleague team. That ADA league is not a good league. color me very skeptical.

ESPN has an Adriatic League player, Joan Beringer, mocked to go #15.

A quick Google search surfaced DJ Stewart Jr, a 6'5 guard who scored 16ppg at Miss St as a sophomore and now averages 12ppg in the Adriatic League.

Luka Bogavac may not be an NBA prospect but if he's averaging 15ppg and shooting 40% from 3, as a 22 year-old coming into UNC, that's a guy I think will help them. They have a huge hole on the wing right now. This guy would start.

Maybe. Maybe not. As I've shown before, geography and context changes don't always translate in obvious or expected ways.

UNC's roster seems to lack the star power and extra gear to make them truly competitive with the upper echelon. Unless Hubert really mixes these ingredients perfectly and they get one or two upper-bell-curve outcomes.

Hubert is known for adapting to the roster he has a getting the most out of his talent so they should be fine.

Here's UNC's big problem... the "splash" players are gone at this point. As others have noted, Des Claude appears to be the best player left in the portal right now. He's a nice player, but he didn't even make honorable mention All-Big Ten when the coaches voted. Claude is a poor outside shooter, which is something Carolina really needs.

I guess it is possible Tanner and UNC will bring over some 21+ year old European, but in terms of portal players and uncommitted high schoolers, the big splash just ain't there any more.

I agree completely with this post, but especially with the view that UNC needs more poor outside shooters. I'd like to see a UNC roster full of them!

(Sorry, Jason, but I couldn't resist.)

I've been one of the ringleaders dumping on Hubert and UNC this offseason. Now I've got to admit this is a big pickup that should really improve their team. This guy is no Cade Tyson. He's at least Cormac Ryan in terms of impact and probably better. He could also be with them 4 years if they can afford to keep him.

Too early to predict his performance in US college basketball. He could really help them or largely be a non factor.

Sure, just like it's too early to predict Sarr or Khamenia's impact. But I'm seeing data points that suggest the Adriatic League is tougher than the ACC.

Marcus Paige went there and averaged 8ppg. Tomaslov Ivicic averaged 8ppg there and then 13ppg this past season at Illinois.

Bogavac averaged 15ppg, 5th in the league, on 45/40/87 shooting splits. He doesn't have anywhere near the ceiling of Sarr, but he could very well have a better season in CBB this year.

Interesting note here too. Apparently he won't have 4 years of eligibility. 2-3 years depending on how the NCAA rules. I didn't realize it was still a functioning body...
I think one of Illinois's players last year, perhaps Ivicic, was ruled to have 3 years eligibility.

He is in a similar standing as a junior or senior at UNC in that he has never attended a college class.
Classic!
And are we supposed to believe that a 22 y.o freshman is going to have the slightest interest in attending classes anyway? What a farce!
How many players among Duke's entire expected rotation will be older than the Cheats' shiny new frosh? Maybe one or two?
