Well, if there are 5 posts about Stanley Borden to UTSA, why would there need to be a sixth? I didn't see the point of reprinting a really long list with exactly one change that's already been mentioned 5 times in this thread.

I started this list -- did it last year too -- and have maintained it regularly. I provided updates when news was regularly coming in, but now things are exceedingly slow. If you have any information about the transfer destinations of Jaden Goodall, Stephon Marbury II, Hugh Vandeweghe, Jackson Roberts, Bostyn Holt, Kiree Huie, Emmer Nichols, Patrick Antonelli, Cole Sherman, KJ Keatts, Desmond Roberts, Peter Carr, Conner Venable, or Mason Hagedorn, please provide a link and let me know.

But whatever. Normally I would do this on Monday, but somehow I get the feeling you won't be able to wait that long.

Here are the ins and outs of the ACC so far. If anyone copies this list to another website (hint hint, Syracusefan.com board), please provide credit and a link to DBR.

An interesting portal thing happened yesterday.

6-7 forward Caden Pierce, one of the top players in the Ivy League, announced he would sit out his final season at Princeton and enter the portal for the 26-27 season. Pierce is going to get his Princeton degree, but wants to preserve a year of eligibility for a grad season. This is not a guy who projects to have a NBA future so he wants to maximize his college NIL earnings, something he cannot do at an Ivy. I would imagine he will be a fairly big prize in the portal next year.

Pierce was Ivy player of the year in 23-24 when he averaged 16.6ppg and 9.2rpg. He battled injuries as a junior and only averaged 11.2/7.2.

Pierce's former teammate Xavian Lee, who was sorta linked to Duke when he entered the portal, just got well over a million bucks to play for Florida next season.

So he is paying his own tuition this year and training on his own with the hope that he will be in high demand after sitting out a year? Interesting gamble

Ah yes, you may be tiptoeing into the swamp called, "No athletic scholarships in the Ivy League."

Ah yes, you may be tiptoeing into the swamp called, "No athletic scholarships in the Ivy League."
Yes, and from what I understand, Ivy League schools have effectively discouraged athletes from pursuing NIL, so not only are they not getting scholarships (which is how it has always been, though they can still get need-based aid - Harvard in particular is very generous with aid so many of their athletes are getting full rides based on need, not athletics), but the athletes can't even easily cash in on other revenue sources like athletes at other schools.

This once again brings up the question of where Jack Scott is getting his degree - he transferred to Duke after three years at Princeton, and given the thesis requirements and such at Princeton, it is unlikely that he is able to use Duke credits to finish his Princeton degree. But I think that horse was already beaten to death without a satisfactory answer.

I wonder if Pierce is practicing with the team - he obviously needs to stay in shape and continue to hone his skills.

Yeah I’m assuming the school would be disinclined to provide “need-based” assistance to a player intentionally sitting out his final year of eligibility to seek future NIL. If not then the gamble is not nearly as big…

Pierce is the younger brother of Justin Pierce, who played his senior year at UNC after 3 at William & Mary, and Alec Pierce, a wide receiver for the Colts who played CFB at Cincinnati. They are from a neighboring town and high school. Excellent athletes from a very nice family.

If he would otherwise qualify for need-based financial aid at Princeton, are you implying that Princeton would withhold that aid IF he does not play a varsity sport in his senior year?? It would be quite "low" of Princeton to pull such a maneuver.

I guess my implication is his student-athlete designation helped him receive assistance and he would be prioritized less favorably without it. My wording may have been too harsh.

Yes and no. Theoretically the Ivies base aid on demonstrated financial need. That being said, I have heard stories of Ivies (and other schools) that give much better aid packages to athletes - I remember hearing a story of an athlete quitting a team and suddenly grants turned into loans. That being said, it is unlikely Princeton would do that (if he is even getting aid - he is from a nice suburb of Chicago and both of his brothers got full rides so I'm guessing Princeton tuition isn't killing the family).

I also did some googling and saw that his brother in the NFL will be making $3.5MM this season so I'm sure he could chip in. Or Pierce could take a loan based on the NIL money he will be getting next year which will likely be much more than the roughly $100k he is paying at Princeton.

Duke should be all over this one
Ehhhhh, depends on what kind of role Pierce wants. Scheyer is big on positional size and Pierce, who I believe mostly plays power forward (good rebounding stats, not many 3s shot) isn't exactly fitting that mold seeing as he stands 6-7 and doesn't appear to be "long."

It is also at least somewhat likely Duke will have one or two of Nik Khamenia and/or Sebastian Wilkens as sophs in 26-27 and they are both forwards who would be reasonably expected to play a decent chunk of their minutes at the 4. What's more, Duke has offers out to 3 top 15 PFs in the 2026 class in Christian Collins, Cameron Williams, and Miikka Murrinen (who I believe would set a Duke record for most consecutive repeated letters in his name).

It just doesn't really feel like Duke is going to be a good fit for Pierce... but that is a long ways off and there is a ton to learn about the 26-27 roster first.

With Miami's Kiree Huie now at Eastern Washington and non-scholarship players Stephon Marbury II (California), Cole Sherman (Louisville), and Desmond Roberts (Virginia) withdrawing and returning to their respective schools, here's an update. There are still 10 outgoing players without a known landing spot.

Apparently, UNC isn't done with their roster yet. Joe Tipton reports that 6-11 forward Ivan Matlekovic, a freshman at High Point last year, has transferred to Chapel Hill.

As a freshman, the Croatian big man averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, averaging 6.2 minutes an outing. He appeared in only five games for the Panthers.

Here are some highlights from 2024-25 (at High Point) and 2023-24 (at Mladost, a Croatian pro club).

In addition to the High Point guy transferring to UNC, we have some movement, as more teams are starting to post their new rosters for the 2025-26 season. Last week's 10 undecideds are down to 7, as Peter Carr (Virginia Tech) transferred to Boston University, while Jackson Roberts (Clemson) and Patrick Antonelli (Louisville) committed to a pair of Division II schools.

The NC Sports Network changed their listing on their transfer list to show Bostyn Holt (Florida State) no longer has eligibility, though I'm not 100 percent sure of that. He spent two seasons (2019-20, 2020-21) playing JUCO, two seasons (injured after 3 games in 2021-22, 2022-23) at Utah, 2023-24 at South Dakota, and last season at FSU. The same writer at Sports Illustrated, Austin Veazey, wrote in May 2024 that Holt came to Tallahassee for his last year of eligibility, but then wrote in April 2025 that the court ruling on JUCO play gives him an additional year. I don't even know anymore, but I'm tired of waiting, so I'm adding the asterisk for now and lowering the count to 6.

Finally, Paul Djobet (Miami) recently decommitted from his transfer destination of UAB, so he goes to the open transfer list, and we're back to 7.

Here are the ins and outs of the ACC so far. If anyone copies this list to another website (hint hint, Syracusefan.com board), please provide credit and a link to DBR.
