Defend the 3. Run them off the line and force those difficult mid-range jumpers. UNX has shooters and finds the open corners. Our boys have to be alert and run over their moving screens - clean and physical. Whistles will be loose when cheaters have the ball. There is always someone on the bat phone to Charlotte. We are the better team and a superior coach. 9F DDMF!

Need some above average perimeter shooting. Duke doesn’t have one consistent 3 point shooter. Thought Evans would be much better than he has shot the basketball all season. I hope he lights up the upcoming UNC game. Foster needs to take good shots.
Sarr Khomania and Cayden Boozer are unreliable. Cam Pat and Maliq should take it if they are open. I know we need to score in the paint, but if Duke can make 35 to 40 % take it . No trust in the 3 I mentioned. I would go with 8 in rotation. Harris only if he is needed

I will add one more thing. Like mentioned before Duke will get UNC's best shot. UNC needs the win more than Duke. UNC has Quad 1 wins (Kansas and Kentucky for example) but not a win over a top ten team. That is why I am not impressed by them. I want Duke to sweep UNC again this year. Forgive me for being behind but what does 9F mean?

Go down 14 posts to @OZZIE4DUKE’s post about @throatybeard’s 2007 Handy Pocket Reference 2007. It’s great reading, especially item 9F, which @OZZIE4DUKE has highlighted.

UNC is currently 56th in defensive efficiency and 19th in offensive efficiency on KenPom while playing many of the same teams we have faced.

I think guard play is a huge key to beating the heels.

I hope this is the game we get to see Evans torch UNC and Foster attacking the rim.

Ideally we can get off to a fast start on offense instead of relying on being a 2nd half team.

So how do you guys see us matching up in man? Big Oat/Maliq on Veesaar, Cam on Wilson...how do we matchup at the other 3 spots? CFos on Trimble?

I'm not the best to talk about match-ups but I know on the DBR podcast, Jason and Donald said that whomever is on Wilson is probably going to end up getting into some kind of foul trouble so they suggested it might be a good idea not to have Cam on him since he's obviously someone we can't sacrifice. I thought that was an interesting observation.

Did you watch Tuesday’s game?
I watched the game against BC and this is an area the team have improved.

I say this in a general sense because there have been big games this season we have relied on second half adjustments.

Playing against a good offensive UNC team on the road, it is ideal we avoid a slow start.

I agree with you about not relying on being a second half team. There is a BIG difference between having a hot start vs. BC and having a hot start vs. UNC. Two completely different levels of opponents!

i don't think Cam defending Wilson is a) ideal for Duke for foul reasons and b) they're nothing alike so Cam would be a poor choice on Wilson anyway, which feeds point a). Dame and Maliq on Wilson all day please! Big Oat and Cam vs Veesaar and whatever other stiffs they roll out there.
Duke likes to play Cam and Big Oat together, so that presents a dilemma for Duke's D. Maybe the holes try to play small ball with Wilson as the nominal 5 and try to force Duke to have Cam defend Wilson, but if they do that we could just have Maliq as the nominal 5. Duke does not have the roster construction to be all that effective offensively as a small-ball lineup, unless the 3s are falling in ways that they haven't very often this year. None of the regulars are bad 3FG shooers except Maliq (20%; even Big Oat shoots 29.2% from 3 for the season, combined they are 10/39, or 25.6%).
Serious question: does uNC even play small-ball lineups with any frequency?

UNC's frontcourt will be a capital-P problem. They are very good. Maliq is the only reason they are not closer to Duke's than many of us would care to admit. Their perimeter is a resounding meh, but they have players capable of the "really, seriously, what the fudge" game. I think this will be a challenging game, but one that Duke could win. The critical thing to remember is that UNC sucks. Why? Because they are UNC, and that's what UNC does. They may occasionally be good at basketball, but they are imbued with a degree of suckitude that permeates all they are.

So cheer like heck for Duke and remember, win or lose, UNC sucks.

I hope to see Maliq Brown matched up on Caleb Wilson a lot. We cannot afford Cam Boozer getting into foul trouble. Moreover, Brown’s length and quick hands should frustrate Wilson.
I think this is the matchup most of us want to see for most of the night. I've heard mention of Sarr matching up with him, but my fear is Wilson simply takes Sarr down into the post.

I expect to see both Sarr and Brown on Wilson. Give him different looks, see if Hubert can adjust his offense quickly enough. Maybe even Nik for short periods of time to body him up and keep a fresh body on him.

I know Wilson is good (frankly i don't watch the cheats so I wouldn't know how good), but he's 19 years old and I haven't heard he's the next Michael Jordan. Let's stop the other 4 on the court as well, especially the big guy.

He's very quick and very bouncy, but is not a great shooter, and at times has questionable shot selection, no doubt due to weak coaching.
