Q.How many Duke fans does it take to change a light bulb?
A. One. They just hold the bulb in the socket and the world revolves around them

Q. How many UNC fans does it take to change a lightbulb?
A. All of them. Two to replace the lightbulb, four to hang a banner in the Dean Dome, and the rest to brag they did it better than Duke and State.

Q. How many State graduates does it take to change the lightbulb ?
A. Five and along with a friend they founded Cree which revolutionized residential lighting by creating the first commercially viable LED lightbulb.

Bonus Q. How many flies does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A.Two, but don't ask me how they got in there.

My keys to the game:

1. Maliq Brown defense on Caleb Wilson. Wilson is an offensive force but Brown’s length and quick hands should frustrate Wilson.
2. Foul trouble. We need to stay out of it while getting Carolina in it.
3. 3 PT FG. Both teams make 34%. We need to make more than them.

I believe our defense will prove to be better than Carolina’s offense. One area we must be prepared to defend is the High-Low game. Carolina is really good with the high low passes. Wilson throws them to Veesaar and Veesaar throws them to Wilson.
I agree wholeheartedly that foul trouble will be a big factor in the game. I'm afraid Cam fouls Wilson early and Duke is behind the 8 ball from the beginning. Maliq is perfect to guard Wilson, but I don't like the idea of Big Pat not starting. Veesar could post up Cam and, if he is being told not to be too aggressive on defense, Veesar could score easily with his height advantage. I would wager that Jon will start Pat and see how the feel of the game (and fouls) goes early.

I'm not particularly worried about Cam getting into foul trouble. He's avoided it basically all season. I trust him at this point.

I am worried, however, about Big Oat. He has shown a tendency to sometimes willingly get mixed up in scrums. Some of them are blatant baitings, some are less so. Particularly when you add Veesaar to the mix, who last year seemed quite happy to scrum it up with Duke, I get worried Oat may get baited.

Maliq can sometimes get whistled too, given his aggressive and pokey style.

But we have three really solid bigs and they have 2+. Two can play this game, if we are level headed about it. If we can get either of Wilson or Veesaar to sit, the drop off to Stevenson is notable particularly in their offensive production. Wilson+Veesaar combine for more than 44% of UNC's scoring. It starts with them.

One of the things UNC is relatively exceptional at is limiting turnovers, where they average only 9.5 per game, good for 16th nationally (we average 11.1; 115th). I actually am very interested in this stat because I can see Caleb and Dame really pressuring their guards with Maliq amping it up as well.

In the end, I like our defense to outplay theirs. But we need to not get baited and to at least play our matchups to a draw in the post. KP has us by 6 points.

I don't want to see Cam as the last remaining big. I guess Nik is next up and that would be a mismatch.

It would be really nice to see Dame make some positive contribution at the offensive end of the court.

Just checked their game logs and Veesaar is much more likely to get into foul trouble than Wilson. Veesaar has fouled out of 1 game and had 4 fouls in 5 games. Wilson hasn't fouled out and has 4 fouls in only 2 games.

The game Veesaar fouled out was the 84-78 loss to Cal. Zayden High was forced to play 8 minutes off the bench.

My key to the game is very simple: shooting. If we make a decent percentage of 3s and Cam can stay out of foul trouble, I think we could win by double digits. If we're ice cold shooting like we have had a tendency to be at points this season, I think we're in trouble. Basketball is a pretty simple game: shoot the ball in the basket and you win! LETS GO BLUE DEVILS!

Oh, come on. What about all of the analytics?

someone, anyone, needs to support Cameron. Patrick needs to play to at least a draw in the paint. Slim needs to be consistent from the perimeter and CFos need to recreate Michigan State.

This is game where we really need Foster's playmaking and penetration. And Evans to some extent, as well. The Carolina guards aren't very physical. That is something that we need to see CFos and Evans take advantage of. And even Nik, as well.

Slim, to my eye, needs to set his feet and maintain consistency on his jumper. Every time he shoots he seems to be leaning, fading, flat footed, springy, it's different every single time. Some of those shots have minimal pressure too. He needs to rise and fire, consistently, every single time.

You know what's more fun than making a flashy shot? Making every shot!

In this last game, Isaiah didn't shoot but one shot that I thought he rushed. Every shot seemed to have arc. But on his four misses, he was short on the front rim. That tells me he's been working on his shot. If he keeps working on it, maybe he'll get back to 38-40% on his 3s.

GoDuke!
