Surprised to see Harris in the game late and he committed an inopportune turnover
Scheyer put him in because there wasn't a player on the floor who could throw a ball into the ocean at that point. I thought it was the right move at the time. If only he had held onto that pass he would have had a chance for a wide-open three, and this discussion would sound a lot different, but it was not to be.

Not aesthetically pretty, but it was an important and exciting win. Really nice to see Evans come through after a brutal shooting night (he did add 5 blocks though). And of course it is always fun to see Maliq make magic with the deflections. And of course, a big thank you to Cam for carrying the offense, with a cap tip to Ngongba for a big all-around performance too.

We won 3 of the four factors and lost one badly. The defense was amazing in the first half and struggled in the second. The offense was decent in the first half and struggled in the second. Thankfully we had just enough. Neither team shot well, which played to UF’s rebounding strength. But Duke got to the line just enough, and made just enough field goals to prevail.

One more big game before the exam break. Let’s go good guys!

We’re not going to get much at all in the way of scoring from Nik and Dame this season. It’s going to take them the season to adjust to the college game to produce scoring. (For Dame I’m still betting that will be after Duke) But at least their defense is ahead and Nik can distribute. Foster is my biggest concern. We must have steady guard play with some reliance on scoring in order to eke out some big wins down the stretch. I’m still worried about whether Caleb can be that guy. I don’t think Cayden is ready to be the alternative.
True. We have no offensive balance. Cayden needs to be more aggressive on O, both looking for and taking shots.

Multiple comments about Big Pat’s 3. Prob not what you want but wide open three with the shot clock dwindling. I was fine with it. Should have gotten something better earlier in the shot clock.

I don’t think it was that late into the shot clock. I think the last two plays by Pat (the shot and the missed switch) were tired plays. He had to do a lot or work against those Florida bigs who seemingly never fouled in the last 10-15 minutes of the game. Duke wasn’t even in the bonus in the final minute!

I'm a little concerned about Cayden. I probably shouldn't be though. He's like most freshmen who are not top 5 recruits. Right now, Caleb is a much better lead guard. It seems the college game is quicker than Cayden anticipated. I think he will step up before long. At least I hope he does. Right now, Caleb and Isaiah are the only guards that are bring much to the table. Darren is better than last season but still has a way to go.

GoDuke!

I agree. I think he and Isaiah both get winded at times and it affects their play. Caleb seems to never get tired.

GoDuke!

There were only about 5 seconds left on the shot clock on Ngongba’s 3. That possession was a struggle for the team.

All Day Evans! Well at least, the last shot. Was so satisfying of a win. Florida fans are Level 10 obnoxious— especially the clown in the stands talking smack and doing the the gator chomp thinking they already won. Slim said, “not on my watch.” Great win!

Caleb is the guy. Cayden is a flat-out liability on D. He's so-so against weak competition, but good guards go around him with complete ease, which stresses the whole defensive set for the possession.

He seems like a great guy and a team player, and on offense he looks competent, but he needs to figure out how to step up his D considerably before he can get significant PT against teams with good guards.

He might be a great sophomore. I hope he stays and becomes a star. And I think it's possible he could contribute quite a bit this season, but I think it will take a while before he gets there.

The blackout was a bust. The crowd was pretty weak tonight, sleepy and dull. Crazies were too busy looking for themselves on the stadium screen. C- we don't inflate grades in Cameron. Boozer, Cam took a real pounding inside, unbeknownst to Roger the Ref. Game seemed like it would never end. We don't need gimmicks in Cameron, just pay attention and cheer, kids.
Respectfully, the crowd brought it, from where I was standing. Agree the Cam took a beating, think that's his norm sadly.

Yeah, I just watched Jon’s presser and he went way out of his way to praise the crowd, so I’m not sure he would agree with you here.

That's ok he doesn't have to agree. Although he might not have seen the bench frantically trying to get the Crazies going behind him. And Jon always gives the crowd a nod, almost every presser.

I thought that was a great win even though it was ugly and physical. Florida's bigs are tough and Condon and Haugh are as skilled as they come and likely lottery picks. Our bigs hung right there with them, Pat and Cam both had really good games and Maliq did Maliq things. I'm not worried about the offense, that will develop and I think we'll see better shot making over the course of the season. Right now we have three guys averaging double figure scoring and Foster is close. I think we'll end up being a good three point shooting team
