MBB: Duke 67, Florida 66 Postgame Thread

Hot take #1: Last year’s squad doesn’t win an ugly, physical game like this. This team has now won two close ones in the clutch in a row.

Hot take #2: We probably can’t play the three big lineup for long stretches, but we’re gonna close out a lot of games with it.

Hot take #3: Black uniforms suck. Black out? Sort of awesome.

Completely disagree with 1 and 3. We struggled early in the year then won plenty of close, physical games later. And now dozens of DBR stats people are going to over-analyze my statement.

Black out stinks. Duke wears white at home. Full stop.

Gutty win. I'll take it. But it was painful to watch. Partially because of sloppy plays. And bad foul shooting. And all of the horrible long stoppages of play. And Todd Golden's whining.
 
Golden is the whiniest coach I’ve seen in a long time. In addition to trying to get the BS flagrant on Brown upgrades to a 2, he was trying to throw off Brown and walk in in front of him after Brown had the ball, then stood only 3 ft away - the refs had to make him stand further back.

Great job by Duke tonight ha dealing physicality of Florida. Slim has a shooter’s mindset, I like the confidence and hopefully after hitting that clutch bucket he’s out of his slump.

Super impressed with Boozer’s pivots and layups against taller players. Tough win and a good win tonight.

That F1 on Maliq was some serious b.s. (he had his hand on the ball and the only reason his elbow hit his head is b/c the player's shoulder moved it there), but he got his revenge at the end. Karma!!!
 
Wow, kinda reminded me of the ACC championship game against UNC last year. Up big, they come back at the end, we hang on .... Barely. Big shot from Slim after being 0-7 from 3. We also obviously got a bit fortunate that Florida guy dribbled off his foot.

Still, I will obviously take the win!! Good to have game pressure and build confidence. Big plays from a bunch of guys.

Foster missing the FT is also NOT the same as Zoubek's intentional miss as Florida had a TO left unlike Butler. Coach K specifically called that factor out. 😉 Well, of course Foster tried to make the first anyways ....Having our potentially worst FT shooter be our ball handling guard doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies, but hey, can't have it all.

A lot to learn from and lot to take away positively from this one -- always nice to do that with a win instead of a loss!
