MBB: Duke 107, Lincoln PA 56 Postgame Thread

1. Love the PG/backcourt situation.
2. Kneuppel can shoot it man.
3. Flagg is a cheat code. Plays all over the court on D and exploits his size, length and athletic ability on O.
4. Duke shoots 35-38% from 3 this year and they are going to be hell to deal with.
5. Deep. Real deep.
6. 1-4 this team is HUGE both height and weight wise. Plus Flagg at the 5 plays bigger than he is. Maluach is obviously huge at the 5 when he is in.
7. I had this team as a sloughing man team which funnels the ball to the paint. Instead Duke was very active on the wings. Interesting.

The way this team shares the ball, we are going to shoot and make a lot of 3s this year.

Cooper with 6 assists and 4 blocks in probably 24 min. Wow.

Looks to me like an 8-man rotation. Gillis played as many minutes as anyone today.

I know it's a D2 opponent, but Proctor looks better. Very aggressive with the ball in his hands. But Jon may have 3 starters at the 2 guard spots because Sion looked great too.

Khaman needs to learn to keep the ball high.

The fact that Evans is our 9th or 10th man is crazy. He looks like an NBA player out there.

He and Harris both looked good in limited minutes. We for sure go eight deep, but it’s reassuring to know that both those guys fill out our bench if the injury bug bites us at all this year.

Might have too much talent. It will be hard to keep every player happy.but I guess a good problem to have .

I don't think you can keep everyone happy anymore. It's the new reality. The ninth guy will probably be looking for greener pastures and more minutes by week two. And maybe the sixth guy too.

I hope I'm wrong.
Agree. Not to jinx it, but as we have seen many times before, one or two injuries and suddenly guys who weren't playing much start getting a lot more PT.

The team seemed to be playing pretty well together given how early it is and how many new parts we have. Blue-White seemed more disjointed than in past years, but this was better.

Spencer Hubbard! And Borden!

Proctor having to come off the bench has to be some early "mind games" from coach Scheyer?

Worked for this game. Tyrese came out firing.

Yes this was my thought too, and look how well it worked! It would be interesting to keep him out of starting line up for some more games to see if it keeps working, but I don’t think that is going to happen. His consistency is going to be an important factor this year.

It was good, as Scheyer noted in his post-game appearance, to play a small and quick team. Our defense struggled a little at the beginning, with way too many fouls, but they figured it out. Nice to see that Khaman didn't pick up a bunch of cheapies.

This team is going to be fun to watch. I expect they will improve a lot over the course of the season.

It also was interesting to hear Scheyer on Bennett. He has great respect for Bennett, as you would expect. As to NIL, transfers, etc., Scheyer basically said that he is not struggling with the new world of college basketball like Bennett because he grew up coaching in this environment.

Proctor's performance vs NC State in the Elite Eight is a haunting memory.
30 Minutes and 0 points.

Proctor can be a huge part of this team's success, but if he can't become more consistent, there are other players who can make good use of more playing time.

it's hard to know how much injuries hampered Tyrese's conditioning/development/confidence/performace last year, but that goose egg performance was tragic for the team. Overall, that team dealt withe loss of Foster quite well, but Tyrese could not deliver when the team needed it most.
I agree though, more conisistency from Tyrese would be a very good harbinger for this team. He certainly has the capacity to score 10+ points every game, although i don't think it'll be necessary if he's diming all the time. But no more goose eggs!!!
